We passed it for years, and then it burned to the ground. Fortunately, the community banded together to help re-build the place since the owner did not have insurance. Would you believe it took an episode of Diners, DriveIns and Dives for us to finally check it out for Sunday brunch? It was well worth the trip and the food... more

Great brunch at the counter at O'Rourke's, with a rich, inventive flannel hash (made with stuffed pork chops and mushrooms), a creamy omelet served with slices of one of the best breads I've ever had (and my wife's a great baker) and a toothsome French toast made with an assertive whole-grain bread, topped with obviously homemade jams and clotted cream.... more

We happened to be in the New Britain, CT area for a ball game, and had previously seen a segment about the O'Rourke Diner on the Food Network. We gladly gave up our 'free breakfast' at the Hampton Inn to take the short drive to visit this establishment. Upon arriving, we noticed it to be a fairly 'rough' area (for... more

If for no other reason you should come to Main St. Middletown it should be O'Rourke 's Diner. Prepare for a wait but if the weather is nice you will have a chance to meet many interesting people. Once seated the real problem comes and that is choosing what to eat. I think there are more selections on the menu... more

I went with my wife and 2 little boys (3 and 8) after seeing this diner on the food network. It was pouring outside when we arrived, and when we walked in, we were greeted with a very surly waitress who said "There are people already waiting for a table ahead of you".I was taken aback by this greeting, but... more

We live in Middletown and have been to O'Rourkes a few times now. The servers have always been nice (though the hostesses in charge of the seating can be a bit surly...understandable given the crowds I guess). The coffee's always great, which is something of a rarity at diners and non-coffee shop breakfast places. The menu is huge and I'm... more

We, too, saw the show on the Food Channel and thought we'd give it a try. It's not that we had great expectations. We didn't. We just thought that we'd get some good cookin' with copious servings at a reasonable price. Wrong on all counts. The guy we saw on TV was there, crooked hat and all. "About 10 minutes,"... more

We saw O'Rourkes on the travel channel last night and decided to take a ride from norhtern Ct. to Middletown. It was an easy trip. We were seated right away and were very pleased to see a group of musicians playing flutes, fiddles, and mandolins in the corner booth. This did make the trip worthwhile. It was a cute little... more

When you stay in Middletown or even if you are anywhere near Hartford, you have got to try this diner. The parking is not that great but the food is excellent. We came here numerous times to eat and we were never disappointed. We always brought home a doggie bag. Keep up the excellent food and service. more
