My daughter and I stopped at O'Rourke's Diner New Years Day when we got lost on a shopping trip and ended up in Middletown. While the customer service was good the food was terrible (We had the pastrami sandwiches with cole slaw and sweet fries). After looking at the menu, with it's inflated prices, we thought we had found someplace... more

Visiting my sister in Connecticut, we decided to explore the DDD list for breakfast. We to O'Rourke's in Middletown. As we passed it looking for a parking spot, I looked at my husband with a look of "Oh My" on my face. There was a line to get in, the place is really small, the food is unbelievable. We couldn't... more

I'm a diner lover, but O'Rourke's isn't really comfort food - it's comfort food they've tried to ramp up, and ity doesn't always work as well. The day I was there they were only serving breakfast at lunchtime which didn't help...I did enjoy the jalapeno bacon and scallops on eggs benedict-type eggs/muffins, but I wouldn't exactly say it was to... more

I've been here a few times and I gotta say that I just don;t get it. Maybe it's that I come early in the morning; maybe it's that I just get an omlette; maybe it's that I've had WAY better food. I live in this town and happily travel two towns over for what is the best breakfast place around,... more

We passed it for years, and then it burned to the ground. Fortunately, the community banded together to help re-build the place since the owner did not have insurance. Would you believe it took an episode of Diners, DriveIns and Dives for us to finally check it out for Sunday brunch? It was well worth the trip and the food... more

Great brunch at the counter at O'Rourke's, with a rich, inventive flannel hash (made with stuffed pork chops and mushrooms), a creamy omelet served with slices of one of the best breads I've ever had (and my wife's a great baker) and a toothsome French toast made with an assertive whole-grain bread, topped with obviously homemade jams and clotted cream.... more

We happened to be in the New Britain, CT area for a ball game, and had previously seen a segment about the O'Rourke Diner on the Food Network. We gladly gave up our 'free breakfast' at the Hampton Inn to take the short drive to visit this establishment. Upon arriving, we noticed it to be a fairly 'rough' area (for... more

If for no other reason you should come to Main St. Middletown it should be O'Rourke 's Diner. Prepare for a wait but if the weather is nice you will have a chance to meet many interesting people. Once seated the real problem comes and that is choosing what to eat. I think there are more selections on the menu... more

I went with my wife and 2 little boys (3 and 8) after seeing this diner on the food network. It was pouring outside when we arrived, and when we walked in, we were greeted with a very surly waitress who said "There are people already waiting for a table ahead of you".I was taken aback by this greeting, but... more
