We stopped for a late evening drink and appetizers. The server had a good sense of humor and teased with the group. Sat outside on a warm, nice evening. Wine flights were excellent and appetizers were good. Our group kept increasing and the server kept accommodating us with more food and beverage. I'd go back if I was in the... More

Having been to Esca before, we opted for this local establishment for their fine wine list as well as a rather upscale experience. It's not what is used to be. On the fourth of July we thought the place would be mobbed but it was nearly empty. I ordered my usual Beefeater martini (extra-dry, straight up with a twist) and... More

Arrived a bit early for happy hour, 3:45, but since we were the ONLY 2 people ther, one would think they would be happy to see us. No chance of being offered happy hours specials, we decided to get a bottle of wine. Menu showed a 2011 sangivesse for $40, and a 2010 of the same exact bottle, with tasting... More

Had the paella; wife had the sea bass on May 10, 2014. Both outstanding. Shared an arugula salad. Also very good. Salad wasn't tarted up as some restaurants are wont to do w/ similar dishes: arugula, cheese, and a nice lemon dressing was all we wanted, and it's what was served. Shared a nice chocolate torte for dessert. As stated... More

This is a very nice place to have a casual lunch, dinner, or small plates with great wines. The decor is very nice, the service friendly and attentive. I've had the duck confit salad, really very good!

This is not a bad place. Wine selection is excellent if pricey, and food is adequate. It gets packed and loud, and pricing is a little high. The patrons tend to be well behaved, however, which might have something to do with the high prices: no riff-raff. If you like wine, this is your place in Middletown. If you want... More

It is a beautiful restaurant with very good food. The Duck and Sea Bass were excellent. The flat bread appetizer was equally excellent. The Ahi Tuna was overcooked. The creme brulee has a lot to be desired.

Date of Visit: December 31, 2013 A friend chose this place for New Year's Eve dinner (I heard that it had the reputation of being a "cougar spot", respectfully. We had 8:45 reservations. Not knowing much about Middletown, my expectations were not high. As I walked into the restaurant, I loved the atmosphere. There is a very large, long bar... More

We went to Esca last' night with friends for dinner. Had not been there is over a year. The place was vibrant and full with customers and the energy was very joyful and vibrant. Our server took great care of us. The food selections were expansive and met the individual needs of each of the 4 of us. The caesar... More

My girlfriend and I just love going to our favorite place in Middletown for dinner and drinks. There is always plenty of seating either at the bar or about the establishment. The staff is always great, witty, and attentive. The offer a 1/2 price wine special on Mondays and their happy hour specials are always worth stopping in on the... More
