Always a Pleasure

Love to sit at the bar for dinner as Carl is an amazing bartender. Always feel welcome and enjoy the variety of good food available. Lots to choose from for any mood or palate.

This is not only the best hotel restaurant in the area, but one of the best restaurants in Middletown period, and there have to be 50 just downtown.

The Tavern is part of a larger restaurant in the Inn at Middletown and provides a quiet, intimate setting complete with a fire place. The Tavern menu is more limited than the restaurant menu and fills the need for a lighter and less costly meal. The food is very good and the service is efficient.

We were staying at the inn and decided to stop for dinner. The outside was so pleasant and a nice atmosphere for a glass of wine. I was surprised at how large the appetizers were, maybe too large though very delicious. Really, we just wanted sides besides fries or salad to go with our burger. Both of the appetizers we... More

We eat out almost everyday at a sit down restaurant. We usually eat in First and Last tavern when in Middletown but thought we would try something new. We stumbled in and the place was dead! We asked for a table for 2 and they acted like we had 4 heads.. ?.. Asked if we had reservations and I thought... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me. I am a bit taken back that you were asked about reservations as we take walk ins all the time with no issue except on hot dates such as valentines day and some sold out weekends. I am sorry for the perception you left with and hope you... More

We joined friends for a leisurely quiet lunch and it couldn't have been any better. A nice pub atmosphere, corner table looking out a window into the courtyard. Maria, our waitress was prompt, friendly & most helpful. We ended up spending three hours eating and catching up in the perfect spot.

Went for a holiday dinner with friends. The atmosphere was nice, but I thought the price was too high for the meals we were served. I wanted to like it more, but will not rush back.

I've never had a bad meal or cocktail here! I just wish they had some more traditional breakfast options.

Thank you for the comments. I would love to know what else you would like on our menus as we seem to almost have to much variety on it for breakfast. Thank you for your loyalty. More

The Tavern at the Armory has good food and good service in an attractive setting. Their beer is always fresh and cold, and they seem to keep their taps clean -- which is a real plus in Connecticut where a lot of places just don't understand the importance of a weekly flush. The chef is creative and I have never... More

I've been here at the tavern for Valentine's Day dinner, have attended functions and held functions there - not a missed note ever. Staff is very accommodating, the food is uniformly good, and the setting is just classy enough without being stuffy.
