We've gone to Nick's Place for breakfast while on vacation in Madison CT for a couple years, but this year we tried it for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Several specials are featured daily, and four of us each tried a different one. All were tasty, great to look at when served, and the food was so plentiful, we had... More

This is a prime location for workman and people who do not strive for cleanliness. The food quality is greasy and the tables and silverware old and tired. If you are looking for breakfast ask a resident they will not send you to Nick's and probably will tell you why!.

Nick's is a convenient stop between Madison and Guilford. The menu is decent and they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. There always offer specials. While the people are nice the food is always only so-so. I cannot put my finger on it but as an example the breakfast potatoes I find to always be heavy and overly spiced. I am... More

It's a down to earth, basic place, with good food. Not gourmet or anything, but certainly better than your basic dinner, and reasonably priced.

Both for Irene last year and Hurricane Sandy this year where we took a good hit both times, Nicks was ready with a generator and a hot Skillet. Good hot food for under $10.00 made to order, and other choices which are a little higher. Rely nice for the family.

Nick's Place has always been a given on our family trips to visit the Grandparents in Madison. It seems as the kids grow we rarely can agree on where we are going to eat, but everyone agrees on breakfast at Nick 's.

This place isn't fancy but they have some great food. The lobster rolls are pretty good. It is also a nice place to go out for lunch or breakfast!

I suppose if you are expecting ambiance and a Michelin star rating you will be disappointed with Nick's. However if you look at it from the perspective of being a reliable local eatery, you will be happy with your choice. Nick's offers good food at a great price in a setting without "lofty airs". They have an open kitchen so... More

A local bastion of inexpensive eats mostly catering to senior citizens. Some of their lunch/dinner entrees CAN BE good (the day we went I had stuffed peppers which were OK) but all the sides we had (mashed potatoes, string beans, etc) tasted so bland that they had to be inexpensive canned items or powdered. Honestly, recollections of high school cafeteria... More

We always get a good meal here. The grilled salmon ( I get it on a salad) is grilled just right and has better flavor than some of the more expensive restaurants in the area. Have dessert here or next door at the ice cream/candy store.
