I've really tried to like it. I've been several times. As described in their menu 'perfectly seasoned' escarole e bean soup. It was a cold day and I really wish it was perfectly seasoned. My Tilapia was way over cooked. I spoke with the waitress about it. She walked it back to the kitchen... read more

My wife & I try to visit Cafe Allegre at least once every other month. Typically there is a wait but having a glass of wine at the bar with their wonderful bartenders who have been a fixture there for years now is always a highlight. My typical order consists of the eggplant rollatini and rigatoni bolognese. Both were cooked... More

Allegre had catered my son's wedding and I was suitably impressed. So we thought we'd give the restaurant a try for dinner, as well. We were not disappointed. We arrived around 6 pm on a weeknight and were seated immediately. Amanda was our server, and she did a fab job of reciting (in scrumptious detail) every special offered that evening.... More

We were a group of seven, had a wonderful server by the name of John. He described all the specials , recommended wine, had total patience while we asked many questions. After deciding on 4 appetizers to share, placed our dinner orders with one special request. Food was brought out at appropriate times, and the meals were all delicious not... More

A favorite restaurant in a beautiful, downtown, shoreline town. This restaurant is a perfect spot to enjoy a dinner midweek or to have a lovely romantic night. There is also a back sunroom where you can host special occasions. The food is always delicious with specials offered to keep the menu fresh. Take a stroll down the Main Street in... More

Great place for special occasions and to take out-of-town guests. The food is always good and reasonably priced for the the romantic setting. Service is prompt and professional. Food is always hot and well presented. My husband thinks Chef Silvio's Chicken Parmesan is the best, I'm partial to the veal dishes. There are always wonderful special appetizers and entrees as... One of our favorite restaurants...Consistently fantastic food and inventive specials. The service is always top-notch, the atmosphere is elegant and we clear our plates every time! Cafe Allegre provides an overall phenomenal dining experience.

Great atmosphere, great service. However, the food was very mediocre. Would not go back. Madison certainly needs better restaurants in this town.

Our dinner group was 10 people which can tend to be a challenge for some places. Cafe Allegre did an excellent job having apps and entrees all together. The overall experience here is consistently excellent!!
