A Lovely Place for an Excellent Meal

Highly recommended by a friend who lives in Madison, Cafe Allegre proved to be even better than expected. The service was unusually good, and the menu offered many interesting choices. We took our moms there on Mother's Day because not only is the food SO good - like the type of food that lingers in your mind for days...yes, it's that good, but, it's also one of the few places that offers their regular menu PLUS specials on holidays. Most places usually offers a special menu with jacked up prices... More

We have been going there for years and it has alway been the best. They have a great bar for lunch and a very good back room for large parties. Food is consistantly good. They never miss.

We chose this restaurant because it was close walking distance from our B&B and because we wanted to treat ourselves. It was definitely a treat! We shared an appetizer of breaded crispy artichoke hearts with parmesan cheese (milanese). My daughter chose cheese ravioli as her entrée while I chose chicken siciliano con gnocci. Each entrée came with a salad. The... More

We've enjoyed several meals at Cafe Allegre, and we thought it would be a good place to go for Mother's Day. This was a big mistake. Perhaps it was because of the expected crowds & the amount of food that had to be prepared for the day, but we were quite disappointed. Not only was the food not up to... More

We shared the antipasto and my husband had the stuffed pork chop special which was perfectly cooked. The breeding had a nice crunch to it. I had the penne all Nona special with tomatoes and eggplant. The meals were excellent and we would go back. I agree with the other review that the decore could use an update.

This attractive Italian restaurant has an attractive menu and competent wait staff. My colleagues particularly enjoyed the weekly special dish of Venetian-style liver. It was busy at lunch in mid-week and clearly is a local favourite.

Cafe Allegre is our favorite "go to" restaurant on the shoreline. My wife and I have had a number of different items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The daily specials are wonderful . . . go on a Friday and treat yourself to the Boston Cod with claims! We enjoy sitting in the front room . .... More

I was here for a 70th birthday party where we had rented out the backroom. It was very comfortable and the servers and staff were very helpful and attentive. We had a variety of appetizers but the big hit was the calamari which was fantastic. We had a choice between 4 different entrees and they all looked great. I had... More
