My Mom and I went here and we had missed the lunch specials by 5 minutes. They let us have the specials! The bread that they bring you is fresh and very good. The whole atmosphere is very nice (except for the loud idiot at the table next to ours; he and I had a nice staredown)

So I went here in a group of 4 from work. We walked in and was told the dining area was closed as it was being used by the rotary club. The only open area was the bar. The bar area is very small, and 2 of us had to sit at the bar and 2 of us sat along... More

Consistent food, service, and ambiance. The staff are always welcoming and never pretentious. Owners are almost always on-site and are friendly. Their bread is reason enough alone to come here, as well as their soups. Food is well-prepared and quite tasty, especially the summertime specials. A bit removed from downtown Madison, but worth the extra five minute drive.

This is a great restaurant for food. It is just out of the center of town a bit, less than 1.5 miles, but an easy ride. If you don't need serious atmosphere or ambiance this is a great place for lunch or dinner. The wait staff is friendly and well trained.

A very reliable restaurant that's been around for a long time and deserves to be. It has its regular menu items and always very good specials. Never walked away hungry or unhappy.

Visited on a quiet Sunday night. Staff was very helpful and gracious despite our late arrival. Menu was creative and provided a nice variety of options.

We discovered Friends about a year ago and have been back several times. The atmosphere is comfortable with booths for 2 - 4 people that are quite private. Great, dark bread is served upon seating. The specials are wonderful, and the chefs know how to cook fish (not over done). It's our go to restaurant in Madison

Nothing can start a meal off worse than being seated by a hostess, then waiting several minutes for a wait person to show up with a menu, water, to say "Hi, I'll be right with you", or take a drink order. Hopefully this is not the norm; but these days when everyone with a smartphone is reviewing your restaurant -... More

Friends & Co. consistently has good food and great service. While it's not coffee-shop casual, it's not a high-end, too-fancy-for-bringing-the-kids place either. Another plus is the reasonable spacing between tables and the general noise level, allowing you to actually hear what your guests across the table have to say. This place has regulars for a reason!
