I wish we had a restaurant this good

I was visiting from Tucson. I was by my self and looking for some good food and ambiance. The reviews sounded like getting a last minute reservation might not work but I called. I asked for anything available. No problem. I opted to go immediately. I was seated on arrival and within five minutes I... read more

I had read the reviews so I knew some of the fact ahead of time. Small, tight seating, could be loud. From the moment we walked in the door we loved the place. We sat in the bar area and had a drink and waited for our table. The hostess gave us menus to look at while we had our... More

This restaurant is the reason my wife can get me to drive an hour to the ououtlets. Small always crowded, with tiny raised tables. However the French bistro food is as good as you'll find the side of the Atlantic. Small well priced stone list of gems. Food is great from start to finish. Service is attentive. One cautionary note when... More

Went here with another couple this past summer. We all 4 enjoyed the meal which, though not inexpensive, was in line with our expectations. French food can be tricky because it is often rich and can be heavy, but the food here was not too deep into either category. I do think, though, that in the summer they may go... More

This is where the locals and summer people go. Ask Fernando for his specialty cocktail and enjoy it at the bar as you peruse the French Bistro menu. Claude will assist you with a table if that is your preference. I suggest you make a reservation if you plan on eating between 6-9.

We ate there on a Friday night in the winter. The food was good and the waiter was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is decorated with a dark, intimate vibe in mind, however, it ends up being somewhat awkward. The tables are placed VERY close to one another and you can hear conversations quite clearly. If you do not... More

Is it crowded or is it cozy? We thought cozy. We had two appetizers. The celery soup was velvety and delicio0us. My favorite (albeit unhealthy) appetizer, the duck confit was changed and I definitely preferred the previous version. I was saddened to see it no longer on the menu. My main course, the lamb shanks, were delicious and I was... More

Had a gift certificate to try Bar Bouchée or I don't think I would have eaten at this small cafe type restaurant. If you like sitting an inch away from other parties on high stools that you must jump down from every time someone needs to use the restroom or leave the restaurant, or that you can't help but listen... The food was really good, and the staff very friendly. The problem is that the restaurant is tiny, and in order to be profitable they have to get as many people through the evening as possible. So you have 90 minutes on weekends to eat and drink, and then: leave. The staff is trained to get people served during that... More

When the owner thanks you for coming, you know you're in for a treat. When there's no room for two until 8:30 on a week night you know the place has to be good, and it was. This is a terrific, if tiny, authentic French Bistro. Jacques Pépin lives in Madison and he's often there. If he likes it you'll... More
