My husband and I ate here the other night for the first time. Very impressed. It's a great French bistro. I had the mussels, some of the best I have ever had. Also had a fantastic hazelnut crunch cake. Yummy. I wish we lived in Madison so we could eat here every week.

Excellent food and knowledgeable wait staff. A true gem on the shoreline. Only complaint is the very limited drink list and mainstream spirits.

This place has a 5-star chef/owner at it's helm...and it shows!! The space is small, but not packed so tight that it is uncomfortable. We sit at the bar, an L-shaped bar that serves the same dinner menu. It has a French flair (which you would expect), is simple, yet every item on the menu is unique and delicious. Noise... More

An impromptu visit to Madison revealed this culinary treasure! This french cafe has an intimate setting with a fantastic menu that features favorites like escargot and foi gras. The wine list was excellent as well. Highly recommend getting lost and finding yourself at Bar Bouchee!

My husband and I love this restaurant. We're so fortunate to have this wonderful little place in our town! I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there, but I especially love their fish entrees and their fois gras burger. The tables are close together, but the atmosphere is very relaxing and the entire staff is friendly. The quality of the food is... More

Terrific bar/bistro in a converted house just off route 1. Every dish we had was a first-in-class. Standouts included a boldly flavored zucchini gazpacho, the best mussel broth my wife had ever tasted, Stonington scallops on a mushroom ragout, a galette of duck confit. Even the side of frites to go with the mussels was extraordinary. The space is small... More

After a great day touring the Mystic area, we were driving back down I95 south and hit heavy traffic so we decided to get off and find a place for dinner. Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews, we selected Bar Bouchee..... and we were not disappointed. In fact, this little gem is worth driving back to again. Being used to great... More

We live in town, and have been to Bar Bouchee 4-5 times over the past couple of years. The down side of being close is that the menu doesn't change much at all. That's the only downside. What they do have on the menu is so well prepared that it's irrelevant. The wine list small but well chosen. It really... More

Excellent evening meal with kind and courteous front-of-house. The food quality was great, presentation appropriate and was good value for money. This is high-end *bistro* dining in the land of hedge-fund summer homes - if you want elegant then their Union League Cafe in New Haven would be a better choice. Very nice wine list with a good selection by... More

Elbow to elbow with your neighbors in a true French bistro style. You can visit with everyone and discuss the menu and the weather. The cuisine continues to improve. Warm asparagus salad with an encrusted fried egg and a delicious dressing. We wanted a Rose and the server, Fernando, really knew the wine, a rarity in America. He could also... More
