Lunch on the road

Traveling through and needed a lunch place. Used TA and chose this. Nice atmosphere, good food and not too far off 84. Burger was excellent!!

Staff members at both the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe House recommended The Half Door for lunch, and we're glad they did! It was within easy walking distance of the houses, and had a great Irish pub atmosphere. The service was cordial, and the food was fresh, locally sourced, and beautifully presented. My husband had the steak... More

We went to the Half Door for the 1st time to see a musical group that was performing. It's a small place, but there seemed to be enough booths and tables available when we were there. We ordered the steak and cheese mini sandwiches off of the appetizer menu. We were surprised when the server brought us 5 mini sandwiches... More

Driven by this place thousands of time and never dreamed of going in. Finally went last Sunday and was thrilled -- food was great, beer was great, crowd was great. Terrific atmosphere, there will be many return trips.

We took a lunch break at the Half Door, and had the appetizers. The deep fried Reuben rolls were awesome. The wings were great and perfectly seasoned, and the cobblestones hit the spot. They have a nice selection of beer to suit any taste.this is a great place to have lunch or dinner, the service was great and the the... More

I went for brunch with 3 others. We ordered the cobblestone (5 mini steak burgers - they were terrific!), the bird's nest with shaved steak (steak was great but the dish itself was only so-so), the Big Mick burger (it was terrific!), and the Benedict with an additional side of corned beef hash (very good!). I think the extra side... More

We attended an event at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut, and then walked over to the Half Door. They have a nice assortment of beers. Service was prompt. There were lots of people around but we found a comfortable booth. I had a salmon dish that was excellent. Everyone in our party was happy.

It is an okay bar, but nothing special. Decent selection. Nothing to really make it stand out, but I have a lot of friends who are very fond of this place.

I went to the Half Door in Hartford, CT last St. Patty's Day. This place is astounding! Music and atmosphere are great! Service was very good considering it being a full house. The menu was limited due to the holiday, however it was a great place and I have wanted to return and try some of their specialties. I didn't... More

Met a friend here for food and drinks and were quite pleased with the food and and drink, along with good prices. The waitress was clueless!! Tried to buy drinks for another table, she never served them the drinks. Gave her one credit card and she asked if we wanted it all on one card... ???? Guess she was gonna... More
