Consistently good seafood

We have eaten here dozens of times and the food has never disappointed. They now have "lite fare" offerings on many of the favorite seafood meals as usually the bread, soup and salad diminish the appetite before getting the entrée. This time we had a well experienced waitress and the service... read more

Not the freshest seafood, mostly frozen and over cooked. Service was ok but the meal was not. I would not return.

We had not eaten here in quite some time, and overall the place has not changed much. In fact, the nautical decor is a good twenty years old (and counting). This has always been a family style restaurant that will never be confused with an upscale bistro. The service was good, the onoin ring appetizer was freshly fried, and my... More

We have eaten there many times over the years and have noticed a change the last few times. Some of the food has a frozen food taste. In the end of July, we took a group of 6 there to celebrate a special birthday. A rapid on-set storm hit taking out the power. This certainly is no fault of the... More

Family up from Tenn. so we took them here. Wow has this place changed and not for the good. Service is very slow, like they could care. The calamari came out cold and rubbery, the whole belly clams looked more like clam strips and over cooked and when we spoke with the manager basically he said that's how they are... More

Disclaimer: We live on the coast so we're used to fresh seafood. We also like smaller chef-inspired dining. We walked over to this restaurant from our hotel next door. We went early enough so there was not a wait but restaurant got busy very quickly. Luckily we were seated near the lobster tank which totally intrigued our 4 year old... More

Our latest time here proved to be great. In the past the food was just ok and the service was spotty at best. Our server Joe was the super, there were 8 of us and every drink, app, salad, and meal was delivered promptly and with error. All the meals were hot and tasty. Overall a great dinner with friends.

I gave the Chowder Pot 3 stars because some days everything here is perfect but some days its a total miss... For the most part the food is very good. When your eating seafood some days the food is not as good as others. I would say the food is great 9/10 times. If I get one of the waitress... More

We had to wait for a table, so of course, we went to the bar. We were disappointed with our wine and the server was very willing to exchange our glasses for a different wine. When seated, we chose the Taste of Hartford meal. Everything was very good - the bread was warm, my lobster perfectly cooked and the lobster... More

My husband and I grew up loving the Chowder Pot and recently decided it was time to revisit. The service was very slow and I only had one drink the entire night. Our waitress never asked if we wanted another drink. We had to ask for water once our food arrived. My husband loved his prime rib but my stuffed... More
