Taste of Hartford at the Chowder Pot

We had to wait for a table, so of course, we went to the bar. We were disappointed with our wine and the server was very willing to exchange our glasses for a different wine. When seated, we chose the Taste of Hartford meal. Everything was very good - the bread was warm, my lobster perfectly... read more

My husband and I grew up loving the Chowder Pot and recently decided it was time to revisit. The service was very slow and I only had one drink the entire night. Our waitress never asked if we wanted another drink. We had to ask for water once our food arrived. My husband loved his prime rib but my stuffed... More

A great place to have some seafood. Large portions. Waiters are friendly, but it takes a while to get a drink.

Love Chowder Pot.Had the pick 2, belly clams and fried oysters - also salad with Gorgonzola cheese dressing and french fries. Clams were very small, and so were the portions compared to the past. Guess the latter is to be expected with today's rising prices. However, food is flavorful and we'll definitely go back - have been going for years.

We stopped for out regular sampling of whole belly clams. $ 30 for a small portion and clams were chewy. The baked shrimp was also an undersized portion. Also the bread was not up to its usual standard.

Each time we travel to Connecticut to visit family we have dinner at the Chowder Pot restaurant. While pricey, the whole belly clams are outstanding: fried to perfection, succulent, just out of the ocean flavor! Wow!. The portions are huge, one plate could have easily fed two of us. New England clam chowder is delicious. The restaurant has a homey... More

We were seated quickly but waited a very long time to be waited on. After we bought it to their attention then they provided a good service not a great service but Okay. The food was good but a bit expensive.

I have always stopped here on my way home for many years and after today's food I will never stop there again. The service was excellent but my baked Scrod was like eating mush. The stars I gave in this review only pertained to the server we had.

Went to find a classic New England seafood meal. Got that, including delicious chowder, tasty lobster, surly staff. Lobster pot pie was the best item, followed by chowder, free bread, stuffed shrimp. Fried seafood platter only OK - belly clams disappointing. Totally well executed nautical theme environment. You pay a bit for the classiness and the history.
