Our favorite Italian restaurant in CT

What a pleasant suprise! The jazzy music was relaxing, the bathrooms were clean and it was decorated very nicely. It was a nice stop on our road trip trip adventure. The bread they give you when you sit down wasn't very good but I shared the spinach ricotta pizza and simply prepared salmon with broccoli and it was delicious! I... More

Food is absolutely great. The calamari is the best I've ever encountered. We normally go with two or three other couples and have a very elongated dinner with no pressure from the wait staff. I highly recommend this restaurant

Attended a business dinner in a small private room. Service was excellent! Food was great. I had a seafood special which was light when trying to eat healthy! Others had veal and lobster risotto, which looked amazing! Great salads and deserts and expansive wine list. I would definitely recommend for a business setting due to exceptional service and first class... More

We decided to go out last minute and didn't have a reservation but no worries we don't mind sitting in the bar area. Dinner was nice except my salmon was over cooked but they did take it off the check. Normally my food has been excellent and I do enjoy eating here. Drinks are pricey and the bartender isn't overly... More

Classic menu; the tableside Caesar salad seemed to be a favorite of every table in the dining room! We asked for and received 3 giant meatballs with sauce as appetizer... fantastic! And unlike some places, there was never a need to ask for more fresh grated parmesan... they just kept putting it on til told to stop.... The Caesar salad... More

Lots of Italian restaurants are loud and noisy. This one is a welcome exception, if you would like good food combined with a place where you can talk without yelling. Caesar salad, prepared fresh next to the table is a good option. Lamb chops are good, tender and not too fat. But nothing remarkable. Wine list is good and reasonably... More

Friday dinner for 8. Fried eggplant appetizer was tasteless and mushy, mussels were plumb and juicy, not enough to share very well. Entrees received mixed reviews. Meatballs were huge, and tasty, pasta was fresh, sauce was good. Shrimp Scampi had way too many sun dried tomatoes in it, and who puts sun dried tomatoes in scampi anyway. Salmon was good,... More

We went here for coffee and desserts. You have to sit in the dining room for tableside Cafe Diablo. The cafe master masterfully peels an orange and lemon, inserts cloves, ladles it over a flame with 3 types of liquer then pors the coffee into the flame. Very cool. They were doing 2 other tableside food like caesar salad and... More

Upon entering Carbone's you feel like you are stepping into one of the dining rooms in a Newport mansion. The dining area is beautiful as it the bar area. Clean, quiet and tastefully decorated. The menu is rather expensive, however it is a nice treat.
