My wife and I had a seldom found opportunity for a night out by ourselves, a date night - so to speak. So we made advanced reservations at Max Downtown before seeing a show at the Bushnell. The ambience here is 2nd to none, all with wonderful views of the city. I highly recommend going a little later for the... More

I was part of a 7 person business dinner t Max Downtown, and it was a wonderful experience. The service and attention was top notch, from personal recommendations to prompt and fiendly service. We were sat in a large round table on the lower right side, surrounded by windows. The Hi-Rise Seafood platter was a terrific appetizer, and the Prime... More

Started off with a great martini in the bar while listening to live music. Set the stage for a wonderful evening. Dinner was top notch. I had the price fixe- corn and clam chowder, stuffed lobster tail and creme brûlée. Everything was delicious, lobster was sweet and perfectly prepared. My husband had the filet and while expensive, it was cooked... More

You know you are in for a treat when you are greeted with enthusiasm and passion from the wait staff. Upon arrival at Max Downtown we were seated promptly. Table was set on a white table cloth, and was clearly done with a level of professionalism. The waitress was quick to review the daily specials, all of which were professionally... More

I'm still giving Max's a 5 star rating, but so much is first rate, but there is still room for improvement. We went with another couple, and three of the four meals were excellent. Of the appetizers, the other couple enjoyed their soup very much. I'm sorry I don't remember what it was. I need to be more prompt about... More

My girlfriend an I dined at this sophisticated restaurant before an evening concert at the Bushnell and it was my best restaurant meal so far this year. Classy and sophisticated, we enjoyed a drink in the bar as our table was being prepared. I wasn't at Wimbledon, but I enjoyed a Pimm's Cup and my girlfriend had the chardonnay. When... More

If you don't mind spending the money, this is the place to go in Hartford. Perfect service (Bruce is the best) and never to disapoint food. They ran out of black tea and the Manager ran to another restaurant to get it for me. Impressive on an important date or business meeting.

I made reservations days early as Trip Advisor lead me to this top rated Hartford Restaurant. With a plan to go the the XL Center after dinner this was the located right next door. It started with super heavy traffic coming in on 84 from western ct so I called and explained we'd be an hour late. I was stressed... More

The rack of lamb was excellent. The service top notch. I am glad I brought the client to Max's. He had an appetizer, a steak, and a couple of glasses of wine. He was as happy as a clam.

We are a regular at Max Downtown and have been for many years. When you are looking for something special, the Bone-In Filet Mignon is the best! Service is always great. It is truely our favorite family restaurant
