Great place to visit in the downtown Hartford area

This is a great place to visit with a diverse beer and food menu to sample from. The interior when walking in is a bit bleak and could use renovation, however the diverse beer selection along with the good food menu makes this a nice visit when frequenting the downtown Hartford area. The Fox and... read more

I travelled to Hartford CT last night to meet up with my two brothers & sister to see Bruce Springsteen. We met up at the City Steam Brewery as I had heard this was a great spot to go before a show. We were directed to the private room where I thought I had secured reservations to the buffet dinner.... More

The menu at City Steam is varied, and the drink specials and brew choices are always good. Ask to sit upstairs if you need a little quieter table, as they are always busy and it can be noisy on the first floor by the bar.

We visit City Steam once a year (while attending the golf tournament) and always look forward to the evening. Very good selection of beers and we have always enjoyed the food. We always go there on a Friday night so it's busy but we've always been able to get a seat at the bar, which is our preference. Service is... More

It's fashionable to put some beer brewing tanks in the window and assume people will believe you have a quality bar/restaurant. Not so with the City Steam "Brewery". You'll see the backs of the bartenders more than their faces, nor do they change pace depending on the number requiring service. Last night, my bartender said she'd run out of change... More

Dropped in for a Saturday afternoon lunch. 25 minute wait for the floor but got a table in the bar easily. Great service. Burgers were good, mine a little overdone but pickles made up for it. In house brews, naughty nurse amber ale and black silk stout were both excellent. Worth your time.

The beer here is fantastic. Recommend getting the Naughty Nurse which is probably their most popular beer. The atmosphere is pretty neat and a very comfortable feel. It would be good to take a family or for a date. Enjoy getting the Beer Tower with a group of friends. The food here is decent as well. I got the wings... More

My sister had a New Year's Eve party in the back room, it was terrific. Snacks were great, service was great and beer was fantastic. We went back for dinner a few nights later and again the food was great, service was awesome.... Make sure to stop by here if you are in the area.

The service was very good and the food was OK. However the place smelled a little strange. I thought it was boiled potatoes, then boiled cabbage, now I am not sure.
