Most comfortable Italian restaurant in the New Haven area

Menu is reliable and unpretentious, staff is efficient and professional. Bread was warm but tasteless. Salads and desserts were very good and entree portions were ample. Chicken parm always a winner.Wall between former bar area and front seating area is a mistake and detracts from ambiance. Would... read more

Came for dinner with family on Saturday (6 people). Despite having a reservation, our table was still not ready. We were crowded into a too small table (for 4 with chairs jammed at each end. We order an appetizer of calamari for the table. Calamari was just ok; it was lightly fried but with no other seasoning and came with... More

1st time visiting. Food was OK. Place was FREEZING!!! I left with the chills. Ate with my coat on, not very comfortable. Bread was very good, dinner was Saltimbocca. Good amount of prosuttio, not enough chicken. Would have to really think about going back again.

This is a regular place for our family. Mostly reliable food and service. Since it's expansion the place is great to stop in for a drink and mingle. Menu is creative and varied. Portions are acceptable....not too small or excessively wasteful. The eggplant parm is out of this world, and large enough to split to take home for another meal.... More

I never even noticed it before but a friend frequents it and as we were both wifeless for an evening, we went there for dinner. Ate and drank at the bar where the service was prompt and friendly and the food very good. Pretty standard Italian fare at reasonable prices and well executed. The biggest minus is they are not... Second time trying this place, it's just OK. Food was bland and small portion's. This is our last time.

My wife and I try to have dinner or cocktails or both at least once a week at Cafe Amici...the place where many folks know your name. Amici's is like family serving great Italian food to family. We love most of the entree's and most of the often changing weekly specials, though it takes a lot to convince us to... More

We met friends at Cafe Amici for drinks and dinner and had a wonderful experience. The drinks, atmosphere, wait staff and the host were the best...my only complaint would be that the restaurant is a little noisy. We ate outside and it was perfect. Their eggplant parm is the best I've ever eaten! You will love it!

I have been eating at Amicis since it opened but over the past year the food has gone down hill. Their sauce tonight I found was loaded with cracked pepper, never before has it been so spicy for my very fragile taste buds! Not liking the change. But that's not the only recent change, from overly season salmon and meats... More
