This is the go-to lunch spot for those living and/or working in the Hamden area. The food is always, fresh, healthy and well-made. The prices are reasonable, and the specials often feature interesting food combinations. This used to be one of Hamden's best kept secrets, but given the daily crowds, obviously the word is out.

To chop33 Im very sorry that you feel as though Bread & Chocolate has run down since Jaime left. But in all honesty everything has stayed the same, from the decor to the food. Only difference is that we added breakfast, whom was also an idea of his as well. As far as there not being any bread when you... More

Started out as "Bread & Chocolate" then morphed itself into a lunch joint with lousy décor. Owner/Husband ran it well then left it to the Wife and daughter..Misery loves company. Always out of the Baguette and short panini bread then it dawned on me that unless you buy lunch it's "No bread for you" Never again and will spread the... More

OK - I love tripadvisor and I've begun to trust it in my choices. Don't Know this town - so we went here - based on the advice in TA. Place on a beautiful day (72) was hot (85+). There is no decor, there were limited selections... it is a tiny small town bakery. The reviews made it sound like... More

A very well rounded menu. Everything was very fresh and the service was fabulous. Would go back there again

The offerings were not plentiful. My husband settled on a croissant and I tried an almond croissant. How can these simple items be disasters for a bakery? I am perplexed. Do ducks like croissants? This is the only option for the dense, dry and tough breads we purchased.

My office is very close to Bread and Chocolate. I can view their menu online, call and order, walk across the street and back in less than 5 minutes. Outstanding soup, salads and sandwiches. And they are a major bread maker for the area, so their breads and pastries are always fresh and delicious.

If a small local restaurant is packed, with a line out the door, you know it will be good. This is a small place, very informal, with, for example, many happy seniors enjoying a light lunch (salads, soups, sandwiches and cakes). Don't expect a high level of sophistication but there's no need to worry about high prices either. Nice people,... More

Bread and Chocolate is one of our favorite places to grab a sandwich (on delicious, homemade bread), soup, and/or a pastry. Their croissants are out of this world and so are their scones. The owners are lovely people and this cafe has a very welcoming feel.

We live in the neighborhood and spend a lot of time at Bread & Chocolate. We can walk there from our house and my 2 year old loves their scones and I would kill for a cup of their coffee. They are unfailingly kind to us and over time have become a solid part of our lives. We also get... More
