Unique Casual Dining Experience

Such a fun place! It is super casual, and you do literally "put your rump on a stump" as is their saying. The tables are picnic tables and the seats are stumps and also a few plastic chairs. All seating is outside, there are no inside tables. The wait staff appear to be all young kids (high... read more

The Place is an unusual, delightful restaurant charming locals and visitors since 1971. Outdoor tables with tree stumps for seats are near an outside wood fire where fresh seafood, chicken, steak, and vegetables are roasted to perfection. The menu is limited, but no one is complaining. There are three types of clams - steamers (a New England favorite), plain roasted... More

I ate here with a huge group of 30+ people. It's an annual tradition of the non-profit I work for. I had never been to such a place! You can bring your own beer, so we did. And rounds of mussels, clams, shrimp, and corn were ordered for all of our tables. We also each ordered our individual meals, and... More

Mussels were advertised as wine and garlic, but not garlic that could be detected and wine tasted watered down. Bland BBQ sauce on chichen. Nothing comes with sides, so order appropriately. Prices were reasonable.

What a great place to have dinner!! All outside seating and you are actually sitting on a stump. BYOB, and fixings if you wish. The service is great and the food is wonderful!!! Gotta try the roasted corn!!!

The ultimate in casual deliciousness. Paper plates and wooden fork picks. The flame roasting makes everything yummy. We felt the special roasted clams were our favorite item but the corn and lobsters were fabulous as well. Especially fun to hammer the lobster with a rock! No mallets here

I used to come here as a kid after being on our boat in the summer. They still make incredibly delicious roasted corn with butter. We used to love the steamers and mussels, but this time the steamers were so large they were rubbery and very chewy with no flavor. The mussels were supposed to have wine and garlic, but... More

I was quite skeptical about this place after reading almost all the reviews here on trip advisor. But Im glad we went. we had a very good experience. we arrived at about 7pm on a Saturday night. And yes the wait was long. but overall worth it. We took a lot of advice from may other reviews and they were... More

We were able to eat dinner and celebrate a birthday. We ordered a second serving of the roasted corn and the shrimp since they were so tasty. The experience was worth the long drive from New Jersey.

The only dish we all loved was the roasted corn. the clams were rubbery and the bluefish flavorful but way overcooked. the good news is you can bring your own food and drink (which is great if you have kids who think 'fish' is a bad word and like your own beer). outdoor seating (which is the only kind available)...
