We tried to go to Abbott's Lobster in the rough but it was so crowded that we decided to try Costello's which is just down the road. Hubby had the chilled lobster roll and I had the fried whole clam bellies which were tender and fried to perfection. It was a beautiful afternoon and we sat outside and watched the... More

Great place! anything and everything fried that you can imagine from the sea. Another BYOB place which is very cool. Great views, great food, great service. Loved it so much

We went there on a Saturday evening, though the place wasn't particularly busy. No wait to order. We ordered the New England style clam chowder, fried shrimp and fish and chips. The clam chowder had very little clam meat but otherwise was tasty. The shrimp were similar to the frozen, pre-breaded ones you can get at the supermarket and I... More

The clam strips are as fresh as they come and the fried fish the best. This place is really really good and no tot be missed.

Have been here twice in the last two weeks. Both meals were terrific. A couple of things worth noting. Yes, there are a lot of tourists. It is BYOB. The views of Fishers Island Sound are unbeatable! Had the fish and chips meal and it was wonderful. Crispy fish, not greasy and not too much batter. Mom had the lobster... More

Located in a marina at the end of a pier, Costello's is great seafood with a local flare. It's outstanding seafood served in an outdoor setting. Extremely casual dining as you sit at picnic tables, Costello's baked scallops dinner was excellent as were the fried whole clam bellies. I make it a point to stop on every trip to Groton.

I am a loyal patron of CCS. I have enjoyed the ambiance, food and service for years. Tonight we were served a fried corn on the cob that was overcooked and unsightly. We were served another ear that was picture perfect along with the rest of our meal. When I asked for a $1,50 refund, showing the bad corn, no... More

if you can find Abbott's Lobster, then you have found Costello's. It is the next restaurant on the left down on the pier. They serve excellent seafood whatever way suits your taste. Choose the fries to accompany your fish. This is a place to eat, not enjoy the ambience except for the vista of the water that surrounds you. A... More

One of the great hidden treasures of southeastern Connecticut; Costello's Clam Shack serves some of the best fried, steamed, and baked seafood in the area. Costellos's features beautiful views of Fishers Island Sound, and is a great viewing spot for sailboats and yachts entering and leaving the Mystic River, especially from their shaded upper deck. A favorite among locals, and... More

Just what the doctor ordered -- It was a physician who recommended this place as having the best fish and chips in Connecticut. Far as we know, he has no financial interest in this place and -- in any case -- he may be right. The fish was perfectly fried, the french fries were unusually tasty, and we were very... More
