A late summer evening dinner with friends started in the outside porch with perfect drinks. Moving on inside were surrounded by several maitre'd who made sure menus were explained, orders taken, and drinks refilled and delivered promptly. All this without hovering too close or interrupting conversations. That is an art! My duck was, as described, tender and crispy in the... More

We had a lovely table in the corner overlooking the whole dining room. The flower arrangements were beautiful, the whole atmosphere was just lovely. The food was awesome. However, the portion for my Dover sole was so tiny, it was a joke. . We were guests of our dear friend, so I didn't want to complain and ruin our dinner... More

Had dinner there for wedding anniversary. Service was ok, but food was so rich: so much cream and oil!! Yes, it is French cuisine, but from last century, when people need to benefit from rich-heavy food as they worked hard outside! It is not refined, tasty and light as you now expect from French cuisine at all. Plus the decor... More

I had a dinner with my friends. The restaurant is located in the residential area but is also surrounded by the grass and plants, which made this auberge look nice and rather outstanding. The dining hall also had a very good atmosphere with many pictures and the tables which were set well and decently . I ordered lobster bisque, foie... More

Being new to Connecticut and unfamiliar with restaurants, friends recommended we try Thomas Henkelmann for our 8th wedding anniversary. I've never enjoyed a dining experience as much. Despite being right off I-95, T.H. feels like it's isolated in the country. An old home has been converted into a sprawling Relais & Chateaux property. Despite arriving 30 minutes early to get... We had the pleasure of dining at Thomas Henkelmann a few weeks ago and we are still dreaming of the wonderful food and service. We began our evening with drinks on the lovely veranda. What a beautiful way to start the night!! Next we were seated in the gorgeous dining room. Our service was sheer perfection. The meal began with... More

Our recent visit to this fine restaurant left us disappointed. We sensed friction during the evening between the maître d' and the bartender. Short comments and nasty looks that should not be displayed when guests are present. Then, halfway through dinner, we noticed a staff member enter the main dining room and proceed to jump up and hang and swing... More

Great cocktails and service. Fancy atmosphere, beautiful outside on the porch, but seriously old school. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad and it was pretty bad, but my dining companion really enjoyed his meal, which was rack of lamb, I think, so... hit or miss, I guess.
