Great place for the family!

Southwestern food, served family style. Casual and low key, wonderful food! Margaritas are the best anywhere and all of the dishes are fresh and perfectly prepared.

I've been going to Boxcar Cantina for nearly 20 years and it's original owner, Nancy Roper, started the farm-to-table movement long before it was popular. The restaurant has something for everyone and the margaritas are divine, but the dining room seems to be overrun by children during the dinner hour. If you are over 18 or are a couple, get... More

This authentic Mexican Restaurant has some of the best TexMex north of the boarder. Family friendly, or eat in the cozy lounge by the fire. Just minutes from the Greenwich train station, a get place for a quick drink and bite with office friends.

Located about a mile of I-95 in Greenwich, CT., this restaurant has been around for a number of years. My wife and I stopped by the other night for a quiet weeknight dinner and found the place almost full. We started off with Margaritas (strong, but mellow) then settled on a Mexican burger for me and Mexican pizza for her.... More

We have been here many times and keep coming back. The restaurant supports local farms using organic foods when possible. It's pricier than your average Mexican but well worth it. I have had many items from the menu with last nights chicken Quesadilla very good. We always try to sit in the bar- no kids and a fireplace burns in... More

I usually like Boxcar but I went last week and came down with a horrendous stomach virus the next day. I found the green chili sauce to be watery and not of its usual consistency and I wonder if it was tainted. Still trying to recover... After years of going there for my "New Mexican" food fix, not sure my... More

want to grab an early bite with a youngster, your own or a grandchild? this is the perfect spot for kids especially on a weekend , early evening. the menu does not possess surprises but you'll know they will have something you like. the guacamole is very good with the delicious chips. not being a devotee of Mexican spices, I... The food at Boxcar is always great. I have been there several times and never had a bad dish. I love that they source what they can locally and that their meats are never factory farmed. But what I love most is the great, friendly service and atmosphere. It's kid-friendly, great for a date night, and perfect for a girls/guys... More

Okay, so the food isn't horrible, but why oh why would you go here when you have such authentic Mexican/South American places so close by in Port Chester? The atmosphere is okay but doesn't really justify the prices. Everything sort of tastes the same and the farm to table / locally sourced thing is really the only draw. Do yourself... More

I have only eaten take out here on several occasions and the food is consistently very good. Excellent flavor and good quality. You obviously pay a bit more for that and for it being in Greenwich. I would like to see the servings a bit larger though to help compensate a bit for the higher prices. The location is also... More
