Surprisingly Slow Service

We dine here often and each time we walk away thoroughly satisfied. However, for whatever the reason, the service this time was very slow, well beyond a leisurely pace. Food was exceptional as it always is. We will continue to dine here and do hope that the staff was just having an off night.

J. Gilbert's delivers a quality meal and has a great happy hour/bar scene. I enjoyed the maytag blue cheese chips and a New York strip grilled to perfection and my wife have a wedge salad (huge) with a filet, again seared just right. Top it off with pleasant and attentive bar tenders and a nice bottle of wine and it... More

It's been a long time since we've been here. Ordered the bone-in Ribeye. It was just OK, nothing special. And, surprisingly, the steak was a little thin and light for the $47.00 price. My partner ordered the Filet and reported it was just average as well. Everything else was good. I guess that mean the sides. I hold the restaurant... More

I could not find one negative thing to say except....it was a little chilly in the bar. Seriously, everything else was flawless. The food, the service, the presentation, the portion size, the selection....this is worth every mile we have to drive to get there!

I always know what I am getting when I come here. Fabulous food, wine and service. It is a tad pricey but worth it. It is the one restaurant that I have gone back to many times and NEVER had a less than great experience. I would highly recommend to anyone.

J. Gilbert's is a good place for a celebration, a good place to meet a friend for dinner or just to go out on an evening. The menu goes beyond standard steak house fare. The restaurant offers imaginative dishes as well. as a variety of steaks. My perennial favorite is their crab cakes. They have the best crab cakes of... More

Great overall atmosphere for Upscale and Romantic dining. Sat at the bar, where Julie, Sandy and Mike cared for me attentively and proficiently. Grey Goose martini straight up. $12.00 Hot crusted round loaf of bread with butter to begin with. Very Good. Had the Rack of Lamb,(8 chops) delivered medium rare and melt in your mouth seasoned perfection with green... More

We frequent J Gilberts to enjoy their "best in the area" Happy Hour quite often, and about 4-6 times a year for special occasions. Our meal the other night was scrumptious as usual. Filets and veal chop were cooked as ordered, and everything was literally piping hot. Even though I like some time in between dishes I did comment that... More
