we were really pampered. our server was well versed on the menu. he was very cheerful and friendly, attentive. great menu selections. we had the calamari and whole belly clam appetizers, arctic char (fantastic!) and surf & turf - perfectly prepared. so was the dessert - we both picked chocolate. my cosmo though was kind of disappointing - i forgot... It makes me sad that this is what New Englanders think a fish restaurant should be. The fish is breaded and fried or raw. The portion sizes are tiny. I asked for double vegetables instead of the rice and got 4 count them 4 pieces of asparagus. I left hungry. The buffalo shrimp appetizer is good. I would love for... More

I love this place. I always go to MaxFish when I come to Hartford. The fish is always cooked just perfectly which is a tall order in most places. They know their fish! Excellent bar and service. Request for vegetables only with the entree is always met with accommodation and selection of vegetable of choice. It is pricey but well... More

My wife and I enjoy and appreciate the various Max Group restaurants. We're long time customers of Max Downtown and Max Amore. We greeted the opening of Max Fish with enthusiasm. However, it's always been a disappointment. The service has always been great, and we love the decor and ambiance. However, their fried clams can't compare with what's available at... More

This place knows how to do fish! It is always prepared perfectly - they know how to showcase the nuances of each type of fish they offer. The fresh catch menu rotates often - ordering from here is always your best bet. Simple but very delicious preparations that really highlight the fish. Appetizer menu changes often and always has really... More

did a happy hour and the service could not have been better. Food was good, drinks good, no one really waited that long and we had over 50 people.

Happy hour appearance today in the bar - have been here several times before for dinner. Had clam chowder (cup) (for 2.00, a great deal), which was delicious, and crab meat sliders and seared scallops which were also quite good. Chardonnay was 5.00/glass. Service was prompt, and attentive. Also decided to order dessert and irish coffee; overall great experience -... More

Max Fish used to be one of our favorites but due to no changes to menu and rude management, we won't be returning. Most recently met some friends in bar & had a drink with them before getting seated. When we ordered a bottle of wine for the table the manager came over and was concerned we might be "over... More
