Although I believe the food is authentic Texas style, when it arrives less than warm, you don't get a good feeling. Also, the wait staff didn't seem very competent or attentive for how few people were there on a Sat night. Rushing around, but inefficient. Like others said, they were out of a few things. Think we will try elsewhere... More

I have to admit that my coworkers love Flaggstead but I think it's just average. There is no consistency in the food. I have been there when it's exceptional and the next week it's just poor. On my last trip the pulled pork was so salty I couldn't even eat it Give it a try, maybe you will hit them... More

At least once a month we get a craving for authentic south western barbecue. Fortunately, the Flaggstead Texas Smokehouse is nearby with all the entrees we could hope for. Usually we settle on a half rack of ribs, which are juicy and loaded with meat, with a coleslaw side. On other occasions, the moist half chicken with taco sides is... More

The food is tasty if you are interested in eating globs and globs of fat. This is not a restaurant for dieters by any stretch....My husband and I went there and I was hoping for a sandwich with more meat then fat, no luck. But people seem to like it...

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Flaggstead. Food was excellent; lean brisket, tasty sausage and great sides. We were a party of 7 and arrived 10 minutes before closing but the staff welcomed us and told us to take our time dining. The owner went out to get rolls as they had run out. You don't get that kind of service these... More

The Barbecue food was delicious. I had the PoBoy Sandwich, side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and drink for $9.56 which is pretty reasonable. The only problem was it was only 12:02 PM, and the people behind us were told that my coworker who ordered the chicken sandwich was the last of the chicken. So my advice is get there early,... More

Yummy is the only word to describe the delicious tender smoked meats that you'll find here. The first time I tried their meat loaf I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. It doesn't stay open late so get there before 8 p.m. and sometimes they sell out of some dishes,so you can be sure everything is fresh.

I went to the restaurant at 5:45 PM on a Friday evening. I was the only customer in the place.Simple takeout order. 2lbs brisket, 1 lb pulled chicken, large coleslaw and potato salad, 3 jalapeno cornbread. First: was told no pulled chicken, but they had regular BBQ chicken. OK, I'll pull my own chicken off the bone, so I said... More

You may be a redneck if you like the décor of this joint - paper plates, plastic utensils etc. The barbecue is actually pretty good. The sides range from average to poor. I suggest you pick up some barbecue (no sides) to go. If you are getting together with some buddies to watch a game they’ll be happy.

Had no idea this place has been open for 4 years. Stubbled upon it today and stopped to have lunch. Read about it in the Hartford Courant and always like to try barbecue places. They had a special for $5 that was out of this world. It was a pork rib sandwich with the meat from the spare ribs shaved... More
