Give it a try

We're so lucky to have a ribs joint in town. Part of the charm of roadside bbq is that it's not a cookie-cutter chain place -- not even close. If you're prissy, yeah, you won't get it, go to Ruby Tues. Don't get your hands dirty. We love sitting out on the funky deck under the shade of a huge... read more

Tried this place for the first time and was excited because I like Texas BBQ. Tried to go inside the tired looking house that holds the restaurant when it was supposed to open at 11:30 am. Doors were locked and it looked like no one was there. Started walking away and a man unlocked the door. Went in to order... More

.....and it was delicious! This is a small local place with all of it home-cooked/smoked on site, so it is authentic. In the Texas style. Brisket, chicken, pulled pork, beans, cole slaw, jalepeno cornbread, we ate every bite. Didn't do beer, but they had lots of it. There are two small dining rooms and appropriate decor if you want to... More

The building grounds need to be mowed, windows cleaned from cobwebs and filth, replace broken windows, overall makeover needed inside and out. Front entrance is overgrown with weeds! Food is okay, but could be better. Why are there flies swarming around? Servers do NOT wear gloves, and food was served cold. This place use to be good, but has gone... More

Although I believe the food is authentic Texas style, when it arrives less than warm, you don't get a good feeling. Also, the wait staff didn't seem very competent or attentive for how few people were there on a Sat night. Rushing around, but inefficient. Like others said, they were out of a few things. Think we will try elsewhere... More

I have to admit that my coworkers love Flaggstead but I think it's just average. There is no consistency in the food. I have been there when it's exceptional and the next week it's just poor. On my last trip the pulled pork was so salty I couldn't even eat it Give it a try, maybe you will hit them... More

At least once a month we get a craving for authentic south western barbecue. Fortunately, the Flaggstead Texas Smokehouse is nearby with all the entrees we could hope for. Usually we settle on a half rack of ribs, which are juicy and loaded with meat, with a coleslaw side. On other occasions, the moist half chicken with taco sides is... More

The food is tasty if you are interested in eating globs and globs of fat. This is not a restaurant for dieters by any stretch....My husband and I went there and I was hoping for a sandwich with more meat then fat, no luck. But people seem to like it...

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Flaggstead. Food was excellent; lean brisket, tasty sausage and great sides. We were a party of 7 and arrived 10 minutes before closing but the staff welcomed us and told us to take our time dining. The owner went out to get rolls as they had run out. You don't get that kind of service these... More

The Barbecue food was delicious. I had the PoBoy Sandwich, side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and drink for $9.56 which is pretty reasonable. The only problem was it was only 12:02 PM, and the people behind us were told that my coworker who ordered the chicken sandwich was the last of the chicken. So my advice is get there early,... More
