Pasta was good but not fresh. Veal was a bit dry. Artic char was ok. At $30 an entre I would have expected better. The lack of wines by the glass also was a disappointment.
We know of Liana back to the 1980's when she was at Pasta Nostra in South Norwalk. We have been coming here for years. We started coming less frequently because the menu was stagnant. Everything was always excellent but it never seemed to change. Liana also had gotten agressive with her corkage fees at $27.50, which is high for the... More
We recently had dinner at Liana's with our family who lives in Fairfield. We all shared the eggplant rollatini appetizer which was excellent. The gnocchi was fluffy and light and was served either with a tomato based or a gorgonzola sauce. Both were very good. Someone in our group had pasta with sausage, peppers and meat sauce, and someone else... More
Like formerexpatCT, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Our food was "okay" ... the gnocchi that is praised so highly was light and fluffy, but rather bland in flavor. Pasta with aglio e olio and broccoli rabe again, was good, but nothing exceptional. Pasta puttanesca was flavorful but, again, nothing special. And, at an average cost of... More
My husband and I just tried Liana's based on the great reviews. We left wondering what others saw that we missed. First of all, not only is it small---the tables are really packed close together--but it's VERY noisy. And in my opinion the food is just average. I had the bruschetta, which was very good, and the gnocchi, which others... More
I am a huge fan of any of Liana's food, especially the eggplant rollatini, as well as any fish she offers on her excellent menu. The restaurant is small, but intimate and lovely. The staff is very professional and provide excellent service. What a gem in Fairfield!
Three of us had dinner on a chilly weeknight in November. Service was great and food was excellent. A bit off the beaten track and parking can be a little tricky but all in all, a wonderful dining experience in a cozy and intimate setting.
From your first step into the restaurant to the last crumb on your dessert plate, there is no place like Liana's! The warmth of Liana's welcome prepares you for the food and service you are about to experience. Having just spent a month living in Italy, I can only say that the food served at Liana's is truly authentic -... More
My husband and I have loved Liana's and save it for special occasions. We went for our anniversary and had the worst service. I ordered my usual favorite the gnocchi gorgonzola. When it came to my table the sauce had broken and the meal was cold. I sent it back the waitress took her time and did not come back... More
Small plain restaurant with excellent Italian food. Use Mapquest if not from the area, for it can be difficult to find. The food is Outstanding. 11 of us went, all for the 1st time to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. We had 2appetizers, bruschetta and layered sauteed eggplant, both were terrific. For entrees, one of us had the homeade gnocci , another... More
