Good oysters and such

Terrific assortment of oysters and other assorted seafood. Nice atmosphere. Good for date. Only slightly pricey.

This is a great friendly relaxed place to go enjoy fresh seafood. The portions are large. The chowder is one of the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the bay scallops and they always are an excellent choice. I had the tilapia special, which was delicious - gently broiled fish that was fresh and came with a tarragon cream... Great place for a family seafood dinner. Semi-formal, NOT a place for the land lover. Decent bar, fairly priced. Unless you specifically ask for a melted piece of butter, you will be given a combination of oil and salt free liquid butter.

The restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting, the menu is impressive, and the food is scrumptious! Sat at the bar with a friend and had full bellied fried clams (so rarely found) and onion rings- breaded lightly and cooked to perfection---fresh and hot! The bartender was delightful and she gamely looked up and concocted a French 75 cocktail in honor... More

I've been driving by this place for years telling myself that I'm going there one day...Well my wife and I finally went and I'm glad we did...The food was fantastic and the ambiance was wonderful. The Oyster Rockefeller is incredible. All the food on the menu is fresh.....I love this place...do not deprive yourself.

I really was surprised by the quality of this place. I saw it and stopped by and the fish is extraordinary and the oysters amazing. I live about 15-20 miles away which is the only reason I don't go more often but they are worth the trip

I reviewed the place in October 2012 and found it to be average, though on the slightly better side of average. I've eatern there a number of times since and am pleased to upgrade the rating. Not sure why recent reviewers see it as lacking ambiance. It looks like a...well...cool seafood bar and grill,,,which is what it is. Big fish... More

No ambiance, just well prepared food. For me, it's all about the raw bar. Very fresh clams and oysters. Nice bowl of soup (your choice) and a sampler of clams, oysters and shrimp... why more do you need. Seating is right near the bar. Not a big place. Small parking lot. Not really expensive... I suppose average.

Bland seafood and a sub par parking lot make this not a great dining experience. Clearly it is time for a new Chef as it is getting pretty stale. Carb heavy as well. Shame there are not a lot of quality seafood place in Fairfield. This is clearly not one of them. Usually pretty crowded.

Craving seafood and casual dining, we stopped at Black Rock Oyster Bar & Grill on the way home from the beach at Sherwood Island. It was pretty much what we expected. While we did not partake in the raw bar, I get the feeling that this may be their claim to fame. Our entrees were good, but not mind-blowing. I... More
