Marty knows how to keep hungry and thirsty people happy and satiated. He's been doing it perfectly for years. This menu is no-frills perfection. Steak Frites, Grilled Salmon over pea risotto and Trout Meuniere are absolutely great. His tuna burger is as good as it gets....and others have suggested his Bistro Burger is the best burger in Fairfield County. An... More

Since we'd been to Martel before and were absolutely enchanted, it was only right that my boyfriend and I would choose to go there again for New Year's Eve. Once again, we weren't disappointed! We arrived early, knowing that the restaurant would be packed. When we arrived, Marty Levine greeted us warmly, and then got into a small group with... More

We only make it to Martel once in a while, when passing through CT, but I wish it were closer. Wait, if i could go more often I'd be huge. The quality and attention to detail are always the same-excellent. I can't understand the handful of reviews here that describe less than positive experiences--I just can't imagine that happening, because... More

Food is fine, the place does big business. I won't return. This is supposed to be a neighborhood place. They think they are in Manhattan. Fairfield is a foodie town and there are many more spots to get a better meal for less.

I like a restaurant that grills calamari. Fried calamari is boring. Fried cardboard dipped in sauce would be good, so why ruin good calamari to frying? Martel, like any quality eatery, grills it, and grilled it to perfection. It was sooo good. My wife's salmon was delicious as well. A nice basket of fresh pastries to start our semi-brunch/lunch, and... More

We went to Martel last night with another couple and didn't really know what to expect. The reviews were good but I am a little skittish about French food. I immediately think snails, duck, and stuffy. None of this was the case. This place was lively and fun. The food was great and had everything from Chicken to Pasta with... More

Once again Martel shines! For Restaurant Week the chef at Martel offered dishes unlike those on his regular menu. Each item was beautifully executed and full of complex flavors that do not overwhelm your senses. The unique combinations worked well together, and each bite left you wanting for more. The quality to price ratio was excellent, and you won't do... More

We went there today for an unplanned birthday lunch out and found it to be totally enjoyable. Opted to take advantage of the prix fix lunch. We chose Caesar salad and clams in a delicious broth and house salad and French onion soup. Finished it off by sharing a delicious apple tart with vanilla ice cream. Staff was very pleasant,... While not usually a fan of French food this place was simple and inventive. Fabulous meatloaf and my wife had an outstanding fish dish ( I could have just drunk the sauce).some nights oysters, clams or shrimp are a buck a piece between 4-6. The oysters were great. Place is casual and has the feeing of being in a small village... More

We love this place. Everyone we ever take there loves this place. Have not ever had a bad meal here. The chef's specials are usually winners...love many things on the eclectic menu. Small but cozy space, lovely artwork! Great wait staff, have nothing negative to say about this place! Try it if you like good food!
