Love this little spot in Essex. The staff are always super nice, they have good coffee and cocoa for the kids and their pastry selection is top notch. Don't miss on the macaroons! Tables inside and ceramic mugs if you're staying, but I recommend taking a stroll to the river.

We like to stop in here on the weekends to grab a coffee to take with us on a country drive. We always pick up one of their muffins or other delicious baked goods. I don't know where they get them as it doesn't look as if they bake on premises but they seem super fresh and homemade.

This place is the only place in the town of Essex that offers gourmet coffee and teas so there is no other choice that to go there for a cup of coffee but the kid that work there is really mean and is lack of people skills. I am not sure if that was the owners son but others behind... More

The coffee and pastries are great. The nautical items for sale are great little stocking stuffers for the holidays.

They have the best coffee and make their drinks as ordered - really love it! The service is great and the coffee is first-rate. Can't wait to go back!

They have great coffee and baked goods, especially the macaroons. It is a go to place to meet a friend for coffee and conversation. They have wrought iron chairs outside to sit and people watch on the beautiful Main Street. Essex is a pre-revolutionary, ship building town on the Connecticut River. We are fortunate to live here. It is very... More

The shop is small but a full range of teas and coffee drinks, with a comfortable, albeit small seating area. The desserts are wonderful and baked on the premises. It is next door to an ice cream shop so the combination worked well for the entire family.

One of the nice things about this little coffee place is that it's open until 5, since in the two days we were in Essex this month (staying at the Griswold Inn) we managed to close it each day. Very good cappuccinos, and really good biscotti (maybe I should have said "cappuccini" to be consistent, eh?). Also very good and... More

Hospitable, local faire with a warm host, great coffee and baked goods, and plenty of clean comfortable seating to relax and enjoy their fares alone or with a group. Loved it on all levels.

Ok, first of all Essex is one of the best preserved small towns in America. The birth of America and Revolutionary War history was experienced here on the banks of the Connecticut river. If you haven't been to Essex, you must put this jewel in your agenda. Across the street from the Griswold Inn (in business since 1776) is The... More
