Fast sevice- food was ok. Very good wait staff. The place had some interesting dishes. It is bigger inside than what it looks outside.

We were vacationing in Niantic and looking for somewhere different to try for breakfast (we had already been to Charlie's several times). After driving around Niantic and East Lyme a bit, the Shack was the only sit down restaurant we found to be open on a weekday, even in prime summer! We got there at 11 so we could get... More

Our group of 9 adults and 1 toddler hoped to share a picnic breakfast @ a local state park; Mother Nature brought Plan B into play. No reservations are accepted so we took chance by meeting @ The Shack. Incredible the people constantly lining up to eat at this restaurant. Once seated, several tables were pulled together, the ordering and... More

If you want a great breakfast, go to the Shack. I just read that it has been around for 25 years, but that must be under the present owner because it seems like a lot longer. I had the Popeye Benny's which come with home fries. The eggs were just right and the spinach and sauce were great. The home... More

This is the exact kind of place you would see featured on the show Diner's Drive-ins and Dives. Its a cozy little hometown restaurant with friendly service and a good menu variety. If you are looking for one hell of a breakfast or some food to soak up that Saturday morning hangover, you must get the mess. I placed a... More

I love this place. It's inexpensive and the food is awesome...and they give you a PILE of food. There's another one located in the Groton, CT area, too -- I only wish there was another one in my neighborhood -- although maybe it's better that there's not -- I'd eat three meals a day there! Terrific value for the money.... More

Went to the Shack with a few family members when visiting this past weekend. The Shack has been around forever and is always filled with locals. They often have a line of people waiting to get in - so that tells you the food and prices are great. We were seated in a booth and the place was packed with... More

We were returning from VA to MA towing a large tent camper. Finding a place to eat with a big parking lot is sometimes an issue. After being stuck in traffic for almost an hour we were getting hungry and cranky. Found this on the gps and decided to give it a try. What a little hidden gem. Very good... More

Stopped while traveling home to MA from Virginia for dinner. Good menu choices. Polite and quick service. Food was fresh and well prepared. Dessert was awesome too! Will add as a favorite to our gps when heading this way again

This is a family business that's been in operation for over 20 years. The line outside the front door didn't deter us from waiting. as it moved quickly. Folks were friendly...lots of locals breaking from low cholestetrol diets.Service was quick, friendly, and gracious. This place could go on Diners. ..Drive-Inns ...and Dives. Portions were large and the food tasty. My... More
