The experience began with our party of four being told that we would be seated quickly as tables were being cleared. Twenty minutes later, we were shown to a table. Okay... not all that bad but not what we were told. Promise broken. The menu prices were a bit steeper than expected but, hey, it's a New England seafood restaurant... More

Right across from the beach in East Haven, this restaurant has a great view and great fried seafood. When the soft shelled crabs are in season, you have to have them. Their fried fish is always light and almost guilt-free. Their broiled and grilled dishes are also wonderful. The owners are always welcoming.

Went for a late lunch so there was no wait and the oysters were possibly the best I ever had. The fries were also nice and crispy and moist. My husband had the stuffed scallops. We should have asked how they were prepared before ordering them. The breading was nice and spicy but the lunch portion was two large clam... More

The menu has an outstanding seafood selection. The recent décor has a jaunty nautical theme. We were there on a Monday on a cool, misty evening. This may be the reason that we didn't have the wait that other reviewers have complained about. We had a great meal. Probably their problem is that they are too popular!

Still in shock about the experience i had tonight at the Sand Piper. The wait was long despite the fact that there were five or six visible staff walking around the dining room and 1 manager who refused to make eye contact with throughout our meal. There were also only three other tables. At one point a customer walked into... More

I dined yesterday for lunch at the Sandpiper. It was one seafood restaurant I had never been to, so I thought I would try it. I ordered the baked stuffed scallops, but the waitress bought me baked sole and was hesitant to admit it was the wrong dish. When my correct order did arrive, I saw that the stuffed scallops... More

I have eaten at Sandpiper too many times to count. The fried seafood is probably the best in Connecticut. The menu has not changed in years (needs an update). The food is consistently good. Although is has been renovated within the past two-three years the atmosphere is better but not good still. It is so loud no matter where you... More

We visited for the first time with a friend who has been many times. This is a small, locally owned seafood restaurant that has appetizer and entree variety, very good quality and easy on the wallet prices. We found the stuffed shrimp, swordfish and clam strips all to be well prepared. Our mussel appetizer was good, however the broth had... More

Nice place, great service, and the food was excellent. One the beach in East Haven we did not expect much. We assumed it would be a typical tourist on the beach meal..... But we ventured in. The food was superb! The New England Clam chowder was some of the best I have ever had! The salad with Scallops was excellent... More
