We have been to the Sandpiper restaurant several times, and have never been anything but pleased with every aspect. We love their fried shrimp dinner, and it is delivered to us quickly, each time so fresh; hot; crisp and perfect, with the french fries almost too hot to pick up. I'm very surprised by some of the poor reviews, as... More

My family and I stopped in for lunch recently. We tried the Rhode Island and New England clam chowders and both were great. The New England was quite creamy. For lunch we ordered fish and hot dogs. Everyone left satisfied.

This is a local place that started as a walk up hotdog and seafood places when I was growing up Near the town beach, recently remodeled after storms in 2012. Reasonable prices and good seafood choices.

This place is nice for lunch but the prices are too high! They are trying to be something they are not. It's a beach hot dog stand that added on a restaurant, not a fancy restaurant. The food is good, just too expensive!

Very impressed with the fresh quality of food. Delicious! Not greasy. Nice view. Can be a little noisy when sitting outside on the patio but you can't beat the view. Would have liked to had more water. The waitress never refilled our glasses. She was very kind and they cleared our plates right away - but could have just refilled... More

The experience began with our party of four being told that we would be seated quickly as tables were being cleared. Twenty minutes later, we were shown to a table. Okay... not all that bad but not what we were told. Promise broken. The menu prices were a bit steeper than expected but, hey, it's a New England seafood restaurant... More

Right across from the beach in East Haven, this restaurant has a great view and great fried seafood. When the soft shelled crabs are in season, you have to have them. Their fried fish is always light and almost guilt-free. Their broiled and grilled dishes are also wonderful. The owners are always welcoming.

Went for a late lunch so there was no wait and the oysters were possibly the best I ever had. The fries were also nice and crispy and moist. My husband had the stuffed scallops. We should have asked how they were prepared before ordering them. The breading was nice and spicy but the lunch portion was two large clam... More

The menu has an outstanding seafood selection. The recent décor has a jaunty nautical theme. We were there on a Monday on a cool, misty evening. This may be the reason that we didn't have the wait that other reviewers have complained about. We had a great meal. Probably their problem is that they are too popular!
