Classy ambiance... good food

We were passing through Danbury on a road trip and stopped by on a recommendation by a local. The food was very good and the ambiance was lovely. Service was also very good but not quite enough to put it to the 5* rating.

So many people praise this place. I have been there more than once now and I have to say I just don't get where the praise comes in. My vegetables always taste, look & have the texture of having sat in a steam table since the morning - yuck! My husbands steak was grizzly and my shrimp was so overdone... More

Jim Barbarie's Restaurant is a Danbury Institution with wonderful Service and Food. It had been also a popular nightclub in my parent's era, they went there with friends almost every Saturday night. Still run by the family. Service and food have always been excellent throughout the years. Enjoy a leisurely dinner here, they will not try to push you out... More

I have only been one time where I have been disappointed been going for years. Staff is always friendly and warm. I do the appetizers all the time for dinner and love them!

We've been coming here for years and have always been satisfied. Barberie's is mainly a Steakhouse, but their Italian dishes are pretty good too! A well-made Martini is a must for any steak place and they don't disappoint in that category either.

An extremely average place to eat. The best thing I can say is that the meals are pretty inexpensive. Dinner took almost an hour to be served, and when it was, my wife's ribeye was cold. The waiter did apologize, and gave us a free round of drinks. I had to ask for drawn butter for my lobster tails, and... More

Whatever you do, do not waste your time (or money) dining off the early bird menu! Unless of course you like reheated microwaved leftovers; which is exactly how the food tasted. I would be embarrassed to serve that quality food, and then expect customers to return!? Having not eaten there in years, we decided to "try it" again by going... More

Jim Barbarie's has been a Danbury fixture for many years. Made a reservation and were seated right away. BUSY Saturday night. Server greeted us right away and got our drink order. Ordered an appetizer, which did not come out until AFTER our dinner partner's, who arrived and ordered after we did. Server did apologize. Good variety of appetizers and entrees.... More

Great food and atmosphere. We had the best steak meal in ages. Mike the bartender is a main attraction. He does everything to make sure you have a great experience.
