Every small American city or large town has one. The traditional blue collar "fancy" night out steak joint. I have friends who live in Danbury and when the family wanted to go out for a steak it was "Jim's". I've been with them 4 times over the last three years. Twice the place was so packed and noisy it was... More

Brought our dad for his 89th birthday. Just outstanding! Large menu, great choices, everything perfectly cooked. Our terrific server knew the menu and wines very well and made some excellent recommendations. Barbarie's made dad's birthday a wonderful experience. We'll be back, and you should go!

A Danbury Classic with a fresh new look and an updated menu ! The prime rib is the best you can get in the area ! Generous portion served with a creamy horseradish sauce is tops on my list . Top notch service and a comfortable booths make it must do for any occasion !

This place is a former favorite, however it seems to have fallen off. On July 3, our anniversary we set out for a great meal. What we got was, no prime rib(why we go) and and overdone overpriced filet and crab. No apologies. Empty dining room, yet seated at the bar. The welcome reception was absent. The love was not in... If the soft shell crab are in season, try them both broiled and fried. You won't go wrong! Quaint setting.

The space is really very pleasant for casual celebrations with larger groups, though noise level can be a little on the high side, especially if you go with older folks who are hard of hearing. Wait staff is hit or miss. On a recent evening, the host was stressed and overworked, but friendly. Our waitress was palpably impatient with elderly... More

Nuffster- We are sorry to hear that your experience wasn’t all that it could have been. We are happy to hear however that you did enjoy the Maryland oysters and the entrée salad. We appreciate your feedback regarding the wait staff and food, and will look into these issues further on our end. We hope to see you again! More

Went to jim Barbaries to have lobster. I know this place is well known for its seafood. My server informed me they had multiple sizes in the live tanks. I opted for a 3 pound lobster baked and stuffed with the most amazing crabmeat stuffing I have ever tasted. The service was excellent and food was even better. I will... More

The parking at Barbarie's is always an issue; luckily, once you find a spot, the staff seats you right away. The staff is outstanding, friendly and accommodating. The menu offers quite a few options and is served in a timely manner. However, the food is nothing special.. Definitely not worth the price that you pay.

I really do not understand why people want to eat this place. The place is very dark, hard to read menu, too noisy to converse with patron. Food were edible but not that great, price is higher for the quality. Also, parking choice is not that great either. I went there once, won't go back even give me free meal.
