My wife and I ate Sunday brunch at Cafe Mangia. I had eggs Benedict and she had the salmon. They were both very, very good. The eggs Benedict had a fantastic Hollandaise sauce, and, I'd like to also say that the potatoes were cooked freshly, with a nice sauce. Wife loved the salmon. For dessert we had a cannoli and... Cafe Mangia is a gem in Colchester. The restaurant is small, so I suggest making a reservation. We had to wait a few minutes for our table. Staff greeted us warmly and offered us a drink while we waited. We were sat in no time. Our waitress was very accommodating. I was with a friend who I hadn't seen in... More

We were very hopeful after reading several reviews, so we decided to visit on a Friday night without reservations. On the positive side, they were able to accommodate us. Also on the positive side, the wine by the glass is a generous pour. Not so positive was the underseasoned food. We started with the special bruschetta. It turned out to... More

A quaint little place on the way to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. The at-home feel is apparent as soon as you walk in and see locals enjoying their meals. Comfortable setting, for a soft paced dinner. Typical Italian style, don't rush through the meal to fill your stomach, rather take the time to savor each bite and enjoy your... More

It was nice to find this small cafe in Colchester. There were three of us for lunch. I had a BLT wrap, nicely done. We all liked our lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful when we asked for slight changes to our menu selections. We ate on the outside screened porch and were very comfortable. However, the street noise... More

I'll start with the positives: Nicely décor, friendly staff, not crowded, best martini ever (Sunrise martini), tasty garlic mashed potatoes. Negatives: dry, tasteless steak. I guess being smothered in gorgonzola cheese should have clued me in. And this steak arrived about 45 minutes after ordering. Expensive for what you get. Would not return.

We went there last night for the first time using a Groupon gift. Loved it! It was such a special (and very unexpected) evening. We were seated on the porch (rec. seating in this area) Candles on the table and the feeling you were dining in someone's home. The food was excellent and reasonably priced (I had the salmon..perfect). What... More

This is the go-to place for my spouse and I when we want a delicious meal at at reasonable price. I've never had a meal there that I didn't like. I have also had lunch there a few times. They offer quick lunch meals for people who need to get back to work, plus more hearty entrees for people to... More
