Not for the under 80 crowd

To start, the interior is one of the shabbiest and most depressing I have seen. It was accented by the faint smell of mothballs and mildew in the air. My water glass had a pink lipstick print on it, and the (incredibly cheap cafeteria style) silverware looked sketchy too.The soup (cream of... read more

Consistently good food and good drinks at a fair price. Been in business for almost five decades and for good reason.

We took an out of town guest to the Hearth in Brookfield, CT recently. We'd been there on many occasions and have found it to be very reliable dining every time we ate there. This meal was no exception. Staff was friendly and professional, the menu offered a variety of choices and the prices were exceptional for the quality of... More

Been a customer forever. Always consistently good. Not a fancy place, though cozy. Service is just fine, food is just good, though selections are limited, except for steaks. Steaks are way above average.

Yes, a lot of people call the Hearth, "God's Waiting Room" because, frankly, the majority of its customers are elderly and very elderly. (My Wife and I are exceptions, thank you). But don't let that scare you off. Yes, the decor is reminiscent of a long-ago era and the only change that we've noticed in years is the replacement of... More

The Sunday night we visited the clientele was definitely of the older set. By contrast the wait staff was quite young as if the grandkids were waiting on their grandparents. The restaurant feels like the sort of place you would find in a rural area, quiet with comfortable warm/woody decor, nothing fancy; a step above a diner. Our meal tasted... More

My wife and I have been going here for years. We enjoy the early bird specials. Food is plain and simple just as we like it.

December 7th, 2013 - needed a nice place for a family celebration of our mother's 90th birthday. There were 18 of us, no children. The room was beautifully decorated for the holidays, the tables placed in a U-shape which facilitated conversation. The service was impeccable and the food fantastic. Soup AND salad, entree choice of sliced steak, baked scrod, or... More

I've been eating at the Hearth for 50 years now, it's just a comfortable place to go. We used to kid that only old folks would eat there but I'm in that group now and enjoyed my lunch.

I went here with a group of 8. Half were over the age of 80. With that consideration, it was a good choice. The restaurant is quiet, which is so hard to find these days. The prices were reasonable and the service efficient and kindly. The food is about 2 notches up from hospital food. As in iceberg lettuce salad,... More
