Best Italian restaurant in the area

My wife and I have been going to Mario the Baker for over twenty years and to this day we have not found a better restaurant for Italian food. This is a must if you are in the area.

This place was so good! I just had take-away, but it was PACKED on a Saturday evening. I got a chicken farm grinder and side of broccoli rabe with garlic and oil. Grinder was great- not soggy- but standard fare. Broccoli rabe was delicious- not bitter or overly oiled. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Will definitely... More

Grew up 10 minutes away from Mario's. Run by the same folks for seemingly forever, the food at Mario's is plain amazing. I've lived in NYC for almost 10 years. Mario's penne vodka Is better than any I've ever had here. If you're looking for awesome, authentic Italian food in a no frills quaint restaurant, this is your place.

If you stick to the basics this place is four stars efficient service, easy simple Italian . Have had mixed results with the specials could improve on the beer and wine selection. Go for the chicken parm , calzones and lasagna. All above average.

Why Luigi of course! I consider this restaurant a small gem. You can usually stop in any given evening & find the tables full of diners and people waiting for food to go. I order pizza from them all the time. It's never soggy. My son loves it! I went in to dine last week and the food and service... More

Ownership changed. Used to be excellent. Not really Italian high spot anymore. Seems to be trying to cash in on decades of reputation that was well-deserved.

While it can be a little snug, the food always makes up for it! I highly recommend the chicken franchese and you can't go wrong with a pizza.

This little family-owned restaurant on Main Street in Bridgeport, CT is well worth a visit. The Italian dishes are fresh, very well prepared, and come with a nice, tangy red sauce. Of special note are the restaurant's Eggplant Parmesan and Ziti Genovese dishes, but in our many visits, we have never had a disappointing experience. On weekends expect a line... More

Have been going here for thirty years. Usually pizza to go. Several times grinders or meals eaten in house. Soda extremely expensive and served in small glasses with lots of ice and no free refill. This is very annoying as food tends to be on the salty side and glass holds about three sips. Dinners are rather pricey and the... More
