Description: This is a exceptionally unique vegetarian-vegan restaurant that was far ahead of the curve when it opened in 1977. All menu items are made in our kitchen. There is no such thing as a pre-packaged item that is micro-waved, and then served. Whether it's fresh corn in the summer or delicious home fries for Sunday brunch, it's all the genuine item. We have a network of local farmers who provide us with seasonal produce and another network of suppliers able to provide us with additional, delicious organic items all year round. We have one of the best vegan menus in the country. Our effort to have a taste experience ready for you is balanced with the nutritional and health benefits that comes with a authentic vegan diet. Visit and taste.... Thanks

the ambience of this restaurant is a very strange one. Not sure if its catered to lesbians, but there are pictures of women, I was the only male in this place. the selection of meals was also very bland

This is truly an outstanding restaurant. It has a view on the water, an ambience that will charm you, gracious staff and great food. This is a different type of restaurant for all the right reasons. The food can not be beaten. I only wish it was closer to where I live.

my very first time there and I love the fresh food, very tasty, I had spicy gingered carrot soup and my entree was spinach & eggplant lasagna with a marinara sauce with wine. met a couple from Boston.

I've been to Bloodroot several times and never been disappointed. Though not a vegetarian myself, I love everything I've had here - especially the vegan burger! The atmosphere is comfortable and unassuming, and the staff is very friendly. Name sure to check the menu online before you go though, as it is seasonal. Highly recommend!

freshly made vegetarian food tasted great! Especially enjoyed the mustard green soup and the veggie burger made with quinoa and brown rice. Too bad they had run out of the cranberry pie on the menu as I was looking forward to trying it. The waterfront view was nice, even in the winter and we look forward to returning when we... More

I have been eating at Bloodroot for many years. I love that you bus your own table (it's really easy). I love their regular menu options, like the Spanish omelette with manchego cheese, or the Caesar's Wife salad, made (of course) without the anchovies but just as tasty. I also love that they are always innovating and adding new seasonal... More

This is definitely a once-and-done restaurant for me! The quality of food is mediocre at best, portion is small and price is exorbitant. I recently had brunch there with a group of friends. An omelette with three eggs with no side or toast or English muffin sets you back at $7. They offered mushroom omelette and roasted peppers omelette. My... More

I am concerned that you were reviewing another restaurant instead of Bloodroot. *We have no English muffins *We don't deep-fry our home fries *All our menu items are a la carte as every selection is handmade and home-cooked. *Our sign on the wall by the chalk-board has been displayed for 37 years, that we will hold back an item, but... Wonderful food and many choices. Actually visited it twice on our trip on our way to Stratford and on the way home. The first visit we tried 3 different soups of which the red lentil was our favorite we had that again on our return visit. Had a salad, which was OK. We also ordered avocado on rye which was... More

this restaruant has been around for over 30 years despite not advertising. the owners are very interested in making gourmet food and presenting it in a pleasing way. It is so refreshing to see a menue without flesh, one with seasonal fresh food. In the old days vegetarian food meant bean sprouts and chick peas - not here! there are... More

I love vegetarian food. I try to stick to organic food. This place sounded like it would wonderful. I found the location interesting. But, in the courtyard before the front door , there is a garden area. That was a MESS. That should have prepared me for what was inside. I do love the decor. I am an ex-hippie type... More
