This was our 3rd visit to Old Heidelberg, and it confirmed what we experienced on our other two visits. The beer selection is really good, the ambiance as authentic as you can get on this side of the Atlantic (especially when the Biergarten outside is open), but the food is hit or miss. My Gurkensalat (cucumber salad) and the Wiener... More

Greasy, mediocre food that appears, and tastes, like it is pre-made and nuked. Went twice just to be sure we were not judging it incorrectly. Trust me - avoid this place.

Went here with a large group of frinds and had a great time. A friend is a regular here - and she was always telling me to check it out - glad I finally did as I will be back - it's definately a keeper. The service was attentive and very good, the atmosphere was great - really felt like... More

My wife and I went here for the Tuesday buffet. Be advised that they don't have a regular menu on Tuesdays and the buffet is about $27 a person. There were a variety of chicken pork and sausage dishes as well as plenty of sides (potato pancakes, sauerkraut, cabbage). To top it off, they had a Bavarian chocolate cake for... More

My wife & I are German-American, & the food here is like what we used to have at our grandmothers' tables. We were a party of four & we each ordered different appetizers & main courses, & we shared. I had the Krautplat & Kaesespaetzle, both were excellent! In fact, everyone's orders were delicious. The accompanying German rye bread was... More

We went to Old Heidelberg for a private group function. The service was very good, but the food was just so-so. The food was set up as a buffet with all the items in hot trays. On a positive note, the bratwurst was excellent. The weiner schnitzel was dry and somewhat tough. The potato pancakes were also very dry. I... More

The food was delicious. I am not an expert in German food, but the food was good. The service leaves a bit to be desired. I called on a Thursday to see if they took reservations. I got the answering machine, that told me to call during normal business hours. I was calling during their posted business hours. When I... More

We've live just down the road from Old Heidelberg so we know to avoid it on a Friday or Saturday night. We also avoid it during their Octoberfest because it's not like the real one in Munich. That said, we enjoy ourselves whenever we go. During the summer, we went, the kitchen was backed up but we enjoyed ourselves in... More

Wanted German as it is is October, so we make out hour's journey to a German restaurant. Haven't been there is years so we decided to try. The restaurant is cozy and quaint. It was too cool to eat out -doors so we ate in Oma's living room. The dining room had a party of 16-18 having a family dinner.... More

Cozy place, good service, simple menu, and the food was pretty authentic... I am always disappointed in most German places' potato dumplings, and here was no different. They were firm bready slices, not the fluffly balls of potato goodness I like. The saurbraten I had and the Shnitzle the hubby had were very good. We never did get bread like... More
