Pricey Perpetual Oktoberfest

We sat in the Biergarten on a bluebird Summer afternoon, it was enjoyable overall, albeit expensive for what you get. The Menu features Bratwurst and Sausages accompanied by German Beer on Tap or in Bottles. If you are not interested in sampling German Beer, this is not a place for you, because... read more

We went for our anniversary on a Wednesday evening. The place was empty and the food was no where near what we expected. I grew up in a German family eating sauerbraten all the time. My husband started with the German potato salad and was disappointed in it. I had the potato pancakes and they seemed like they were factory... More

We are just tired of the same Italian or Chinese food and decided to try German. This past weekend I visited the Old Heidelberg restaurant in Bethel, Ct. My friends and I thought it was pretty good. Its an old building that's been refurbished. We sampled the potato pancakes. They were not grated and fried like my moms. They were flat... More

I had a wonderful time at the Old Heidelberg a while ago at the Octoberfest. I went with my German father and we had a blast. It was so Authentic. But recently I was there on a date and we were treated so nicely. The food was exceptionally fresh and the chef catered to our specific requests. I had such... More

We went for our Friday evening dinner. It was not overly crowded, but it a took a long time for the food to arrive. Appetizer (Chicken sausage) was OK. We shared a main dish of Pork chops, and we thought it was ordinary. The sweet dish of Austrian crepe was tasty perhaps because of the ice cream because the crepe... More

Charming environment. Reminded us of several small Gasthauses we visited while in German. The staff was very friendly and prompt. It was not very crowded even for a Saturday night at 7PM. There was just the two of us, my wife and I. I tried talking a little with the hostess but she wasn't in a talkative mood. Let's move... More

What a great meal!! The bread that came before the meal was baked pretzels with hot mustard...delicious!! We each had a beer (1/2 price because it was their anniversary), and we really enjoyed our meal! I've marked this exit in our Atlas, so when we travel back and forth from FL to Maine we will be sure to stop here!!

My wife and I had the all-you-can-eat buffet, arriving around 9pm on a Tuesday night. We were in heaven!!! (Note that the buffet is only a couple nights per week so call or check their website first if you plan to go just for that.) First, we arrived very late, nearly closing time, but the staff still welcomed us and... More

I've been meaning to write a review of Old Heidelberg for some time. My family has dined here a number of times and we have never been disappointed in either the food or the service. The portions are very generous--the sauerbraten with spaetzle and red cabbage is a favorite, but I also recommend the gulasch and the potato pancakes. The... More
