Better than most.

Good food, good portion for price. Bienenstich cake not good, ours was frozen, hard to eat. Pass on dessert.

I don't know why we haven't come here sooner-maybe I thought it'd be stuffy and old fashioned. The building is a charming, Old World cottage with cozy nooks for dining. Jean, our hostess/waitress was friendly, willing to explain the menu and made a great beer recommendation. Started with potato pancakes, cheese and carmelized onion loaded spaetzel (like the BEST mac... More

We have been going to Old Heidelberg for years. I found it one time on my way home from a meeting in Fairfield County. And what a find it is. This is the real thing - good German food and great German Beer! We really love the outside beer garden where folks relax and enjoy the fresh air and the... More

There are a lot of reviews here with some issues that I need to go over. First the price.... Yes it is a little expensive($110 for three people with three meals, appetizer, two sodas, and the biggest beer I've ever seen.) but it is a German restaurant, which are famous for being pricey. And old Heidelberg is definitely cheaper than... More

We have been going to Old Heidelberg for years. Once or twice a year. Last night was the worst meal I've had in a restaurant. The saurbratten was overcooked, bad flavor, the spetzel was bland and mushy, the potato pancakes were tough and could not be eaten, it was as though I was being tested to see if I would eat this... We loved our food at this place. Hard to find . Esp at night the sign should be out nearer the road or bigger. We ate outside. inside was tight esp since I am in a wheelchair... The food was just grand . The spatzle were great . Just the way mom use to make... We loved the food. I... More

This was not my first visit to Old Heildelberg but it will be my last. This place was once very, very good. I don't know what happened. The potato pancakes were terrible. Any German restaurant that can't do potato pancakes has a problem. The sauerbraten was lacking any flavor and the jager snitzel was lacking in every aspect. Sorry to... More

We eat in Germany quite a bit. We like good German food. Heidelberg's food was simply okay. The sauerbraten wasn't cooked traditionally, although it had a pleasing flavor (just not like sauerbraten should be). The spaetzle was a bit rubbery and somehow did not taste quite right either. The kasespaetzel was bland, really bland. The schnitzel was tough. The carrot... More

The wife and I went to the Old Heidelberg Resturant today for lunch. The meals were one of the best that we have had. We started with potato pancakes and cucumber salad for starters. Wow were they delicious. The wife ordered Jager snitzel with spatzel and red cabbage, it was enough to feed 2 to 3 people. She said that... More
