Family Style Italian-American Dining

Relatives suggested dining here on a trip to the Denver area. The bread with olive oil and spices is a nice beginning while choosing from a range of appetizers, pasta dishes, and entrees that could appeal to the wide range of ages and tastes of our guests. Went here for lunch while taking a drive. Food was ok, but seriously nothing special. The server, who was only servicing 3 tables was very slow and only checked on us once, right after we got our food. Waited about 10 mins after we were done to get our check which automatically included a 20% gratuity. My biggest problem was... More

My wife and I went Abrusci's on 8/7/2015. We had the worst meal that we have had in years. We wrote a review the next day and also sent a detailed complaint to the manager Mr. Jeff Progar. Our original review has apparently been removed from this list and we never received an acknowledgment to our complaint from the manager.... More

Abrusci's has eliminated tipping using some lame excuse that this is necessary in order to keep from raising prices. Adding an automatic 20% to the check, or raising prices; I fail to see the difference. We dined there last evening. My daughter ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca. When it arrived, the chicken was pink in the middle. She asked that it... More

Good food. They are changing their policy to include a 20% surcharge on their food so that their wait staff makes more money. The problem with that philosophy is I don't believe in tipping 20% unless the staff takes care of me and does not wreck the dining experience. I am a generous tipper but I also have worked in... Dear ChuckDan – Thank you for the nice comment on the food and we hope to have you back in the restaurant soon. As a family owned restaurant, we strive to do our best for every customer that walks through our door. I would also like to quickly address your comments on “mandatory tipping”. I spent 3 weeks in Italy last year, and this is the first restaurant in the U.S. that equals or surpassed Italian cuisine. The portions were large and tasted fantastic. Inside ambience was great, outside was nice except in fronts on parking lot, but they did a nice job of using decorative fencing and umbrellas.

I like this restaurant a lot. The service is quick, with bread and garlic paste and oil is always a favorite. The sauces are good, the only thing I would recommend though, is that if you are dining family style, pick two opposite entrees - don't do two pasta dishes. There just isn't a lot of differences between pasta entrees.... More

An extensive menu of appetizers and main courses. The meal started with a friendly waiter and a large and well done Caesar salad with anchovies. The bread was good with a hard crust and tasty olive oil and spices. The main course of seafood over penne pasta was excellent. Large servings of clams, scallops and shrimp. A tasty tomato sauce... Wonderful food in a very pleasant atmosphere. View from the street doesn't do it justice. Family size option on dishes is economical and fun. Had 3 family size dishes for six and had plenty of food. Lots of dishes I've never seen before, and all good. Wish I lived close enough to go there often!
