We discovered this place after having lived in Germany and felt right at home. That was in 1988 and we've been back often! The food is still just fantastic! Understand there is a new owner, but she's doing it right!

We took our adult children here during our Vail vacation. I thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant, service, and food. I felt the menu was authentic German with a wide selection. The wine list was broad and a bit high. The gazpacho was an excellent starter, better than the German salad. The traditional beef tips in sauce was superb. The Weiner Schnitzel... More

Four of us enjoyed the beer & brot specials, for about $13, & really enjoyed them. The dark, wheat beer was yummy & smooth, & the brots equally delicious! On a summer day, it's the perfect spot for dining, as lots of people walk by & umbrellas keep you from getting too hot. After just returning from a trip to... More

Some of Vail's restaurants are trendy and/or "so-so" pub fare. Alpenrose offers an authentic experience with amazing food and bakery. Dogs are allowed on the patio, so our Golden Retriever gets to dine with us. Get the Beer and Brat Special, the Supreme Salad, and of course the Fondue (and add sausages) for a delightfully different meal in the heart... More

ok - I have money….but I hate spending money on a just adequate meal. Entrees are $35- $40, A glass of wine is $10. While we were there we saw folks come in and sit down and read the menu and get up and leave. I wish we had too. If you do eat there - get the spatzle with... More

The location and the nice, outdoor tables were a plus. The food here is only average. Dishes like the schnitzel and the goulash were reasonably tasty, but as as impressive as one would expect given that the place is somewhat pricey.
