Dining with a large group

We went from a reservation of 3 and ended with 11. We called an hour before our reservation of 3 to make it 11 and the staff made it happen on a Saturday night! We enjoyed great food, service, and wines with great friends. The staff were ALL so friendly and helpful.

Looking for a romantic spot for my wife on her birthday, I decided upon Ludwig's. The service was outstanding, the wine list was extensive and the food was fantastic. While a little expensive, it was worth every penny. Problem with Vail, it is often tough to get reservations these days, but Ludwig's went out of their way to take care... More

We stayed at the Sonnenalp hotel (which is also fantastic) and decided to just stay in for dinner trying out Ludwig's for the first night. Oh my, what a treat! The food was absolutely divine and exceeded any of my expectations - and the suggested wine pairing by the Som. absolutely was spot on. They have some very unique items... More

Inside Sonnenalp Hotel. Great assortment of menu choices and wine selection. They even have an in-house sommelier to assist choosing wine. Oysters and tuna as appetizers. Short ribs and Beef tenderloins as main. Very tasty and just right portion. Of course save room for dessert. Their ice cream/sorbet is very good. Their cappuccino cups are huge, three times bigger than... More

The 5 course taster menu is really inspired. We get sick of the usual ski/mountain town fare ie elk, bison done the same old way. This was not that. Great inventive dishes. The mushroom starter had a mushroom gelato mixed with a variety of ingredients which blew our taste buds. The sea bass was amazing. The gluten free bread was... More

The overall experience was simply great. We enjoy good food, good service, and people who are committed to what they are doing. In a nutshell, that' s Ludwig's. Add to that creativity - like we experienced in the "mushroom meadow", or their preparation of Hudson Valley Foie Gras...and you have a wonderful, memorable evening.

You can choose between american and old bavarian style, both on top quality and allways fresh. The view out of the "greenhouse terrace make you feeling warm outside

We have eaten at Ludwigs several times. If you are GLUTEN FREE it is probably the best restaurant in all of Vail. The entire place is Gluten Free. We have tried a number of different menu items and have yet to be disappointed in anything. The prices are pretty high, but not out of whack with a resort town like... More

My husband and I had the tasting menu with wine pairings last night. It was fantastic! We picked Ludwug's initially because my husband is allergic to wheat. We had no idea it would be the artistic gourmet delight that it was. Each of the five courses was a work of art. There were multiple wine choices to pair with each... More
