Great seafood on the Mountains

Nice fresh seafood in Vail. The food was delicious, the service a little slow though. A reservation is highly recommended.

Enjoyed the simple grilled fish dishes here. Came with 3 sauces and choice of two sides. They do have meat dishes also, though.

This is our second time visiting this very pleasant restaurant in Lionshead. The atmosphere is very conducive to conversation. Service is for the most part attentive though not really professional. The food is excellent and as a group of 7 we sampled much of the menu and everyone was very pleased. Prices are on par with most upscale Vail restaurants.... More

We have eaten at Montauk almost every time we are visiting Vail. Reservations may be difficult to come by so I would suggest making reservations well in advance because it is always very crowded. There are lots of restaurants in the area which specialize in beef, but seafood is this restaurant's top prority. The seafood is fresh and delicious. There... More

Lovely atmosphere. Interesting specialty drink selection. Accommodating waiter. Great mussels, oysters, grilled Seabass. Very nice accompanying sauces and side dishes (must try champagne/vinegar/shallot sauce for oysters). Not pretentious, very down to earth feeling. A nice place in lionshead for upscale seafood.

We didn't eat here but sat at tables for drinks after a day on the slopes. The other "base" restaurants were packed and Montauk's had plenty of seats. The service was fast and the drinks were tasty. If you're looking for place to hang out after a day of skiing/snowboarding, consider Montauk's

We've been coming to Vail for years and Montauk is one of our favorites. We always have the seafood and it's consistently fresh and delicious. Glad to see they've added Après Ski and early dinner options.

As usual, I read the terrible and poor reviews in TA, but decided to go anyway. Sat at bar so this review may not be applicable to restaurant as whole. Service was friendly and prompt. Relatively quiet. Fried oysters were plump and tender. Importantly, my fish, blue marlin, was prepared to my specification and was excellent b. Happy to make... More
