Called about 2 months in advance for a Christmas week reservation. One of the specials was fluke from South America. I'm a big fish eater but this fluke was the best fish I've ever tasted.

Our whole family stop in last Tuesday. Service was excellent, the food was outstanding. I little pricey for the portion size but that seems to go with the territory these days

We return to our old favorites each time we visit Vail. This visit brought Sweet Basil back to star status after slipping last year. La Tour was a close second as a result of service differences. The lamb chops were perfect as an entrée and the sweetbread appetizer could not be better. Welcome back to "Star" status!

This is a nice restaurant, and the food is good. But in general, it is a bit over-rated. Perhaps it does well compared to other Vail restaurants, but I think it would be "average" when compared to other major metro-restaurants (DC, NY, SF, etc.). We ordered the tuna appetizer, Entrees: Duck breast and Stone Bass (special). Really, none of the... More

I have always loved Sweet Basil. We sat at the bar and had a delicious meal but our service seemed off. When we first started to sit down the bartender very abruptly said you need to have your name on the wait list. Well, we had been on it....just not the best start to an expensive meal. So, I still... It was a great place for a date night for my husband and I! Our service was nice and pleasant. I don't think there is anything on the menu that isn't amazing. We personally loved the squash appetizer- it was different than anything we tried before and delicious!!! Getting the Colorado rack of lamb is a must too.

We started with oysters on the half shell from Washington state and they were some of the best we have ever had. We asked for the sommelier and he advised us to try a $32 bottle of Riesling and a $95 bottle of pinot noir--they were both outstanding. This is my fourth time at Sweet Basil and I am never... More

I had not been to Sweet Basil in about 20 years and what a mistake that was. My wife had the chicken dish with foie grois which was fabulous. We took home the unfinished portion and it still tasted great the next day on the plane on the way home. I had the pork loin with pork belly which was... More

As a Vail Valley local and frequent diner, I rarely opt for Sweet Basil. There are many better choices Vail. The food portions are small and the wine is overpriced. I end up spending $300 on average to get a appetizer, two entrees and a bottle of wine. And then I usually have to go to Vendettas late night to... More

I´ve been coming to SB for several years now and I would say dining there is one of the highlights of my visits to Vail. While keeping some classics (or slight variations thereof) in the menu, they consistently surprise you with great quality of food; the wine cellar is a great addition form the couple past years.
