The Most Expensive Meal Ever

We booked Sweet Basil for New Years Eve a month before arrival, and were informed that it would be a five course menu included one glass of champagne but not 20% tip or Tax oh and we needed to pay a $250 deposit for each guest to make the booking. Ok I understand they wanted to make sure people... read more

Three times I tried booking in at SB, only to feel the same as Julia Roberts out of "Pretty Woman" This woman was not only rude but belittling. Finally we organized an early booking. The waiter was fantastic, the food was "yes" average! Would I eat there again - "NO"

This restaurant does everything very well. The atmosphere is extremely appealing and conducive to conversations. Service is definitely professional. As a group of 7 we were able to sample a good part of the menu and all dishes were original and extremely tasty. A definite must visit in Vail.

Ahi with wild mushrooms was excellent. Served in a bowl with an amazing broth. Duck was perfectly cooked.

We last came 2 years ago, returning this lunch time. The food was just delicious, the burger the best in Colorado! The wine selection is good too. Can't wait to go back, firmly recommend. Not stuffy, just homely.

We have been to Sweet Basil on previous trips to Vail and have found it to be lagging other restaurants in innovative cuisine. The menu is predictable. The food is tasty, but could use a creative makeover. The location in the center of Vail Village is very convenient.

My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! For appetizers we ordered the she crab soup & calamari. I was not a fan of the she crab soup and would not recommend it as I've had she crab soup from Charleston that was obviously much better. However, the calamari was excellent! It was an Asian... My brother had worked at this place back in the early 80's, so I had to go there when I went back to Vail. My daughter and I walked in around 7:15 without a reservation, ready to wait for a while for a seat at the bar. But they're strict about no-shows and at 7:30 we had a table. Delicious... More

Took a small work group out during a visit to Vail for a work conference. The entrance was crowded when we walked in, and the bar seemed to have some sort of waitlist system which was confusing. We were seated at a booth in the restaurant, and started off the dinner with some phenomenal oysters fresh from Washington State. At... More
