My husband and I ate here one evening during our trip to Vail and were amazed. We both ordered the Omakase so that we could try several dishes along with the Matsuhisa-Style Sashimi. Each dish brought out was a great treat. The black cod was our favorite dish and the Nobu style shaved ice for desert was out of this... More

If we ever return, we will eat before we go. I could not get full despite ordering six items from the menu. The food was good, not out of this world. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was strange with very high ceilings, it lacked warmth. You should never leave a restaurant, pay $400 for dinner and still be hungry.

Matsuhisa lives up to its legendary name with a great menu and excellent drinks. The atmosphere is great with a real mountain feel to it. Can usually spot a celebrity or two on any given weekend in this great restaurant.

We were walking around the village checking out a few of the sushi places and this was highly recommended but pricey worth it price. Although there wasn't a big crowd (maybe because we were early), we had a nice experience at this restaurant. Being vegetarian, there were not tons of choices but the waiter recommended an eggplant dish that hit... More

It truly us an outstanding experience! The setting is in the primêre location of Solaris that is located in the Center of Vail. The ambiance is very sheek mountain modern and classy. I love sitting at their Sushi bar to observe the Sushi artists at work. I love Sushi because of its beauty, taste and health benefits. When you a... More

Ate dinner here last night. $32 for a 6 oz cod that was raw in the center. Waited 20 mins for salmon filet and it was raw in the center too. Waiter said these were family style but the portions were tiny. Also had a dirty martini which tasted awful and had to send back. King crab tempura was cooked... More

I certainly enjoyed the Japanese fare here but would not go back because I didn't feel that the experience justified the price, which will probably run at about $100 per person including drinks. A large open dining room, sort of a modern ski lodge look. It's loud in there! I personally tend to prefer the smaller and more intimate feel,... More

My wife and I went to Matsuhisa this weekend, expecting a top notch Japanese experience. It was good, but it wasn't great. We ordered a number of smaller plates and a Bento Box special, so we got a wide variety of items. Some of the sushi was really good: the Spicy Tuna Roll, the Salmon, and the Whitefish. But some... Traveling alone, I ate at the sushi bar. The chefs were very friendly and made some wonderful recommendations. I filled up on sushi and also had a cup of the clear mushroom soup. I have no complaints at all. I wish I could remember the name of the cocktail I tried--it had passionfruit in it and it was divine. Service... More

We have eaten at Matsuhisa Vail numerous times. All of the meals have been outstanding. For a real treat, try the Omakase tasting menu. Omakase means "from the heart" and the chefs serve whatever inspires them that evening. If you go off-season (late September/October) you can have a 5 course Omakase for $45. Otherwise on season, it is $125 or... More
