Not "Tex-Mex", but a great food and atmosphere. If looking for your traditional mid-west Mexican food, this is not it. Great locally sourced food. Guac is awesome!

We ordered dinner at La Cocina de Luz after the end of a long drive through the mountains to get to Telluride. We were looking for something fresh, filling and tasty and that’s exactly what the dishes were. I believe I ordered some sort of vegetarian tacos, and grabbed some of the many salsas available. We ended up grabbing the... More

I was looking for a place to eat with my kids for breakfast and we saw their menu in the window that said "waffles." We go in and two of my kids order waffles ($8.50 each, I think). When the order comes out, we get two orders of blueberry waffles, which my kids won't eat. Assuming it was a simple... More

After a long days drive from the Salt Lake City area, which notably did not include any stops for food, we got takeout from La Cocina de Luz. While, the decision to get takeout means I cannot comment on the service at La Cocina de Luz, that, unfortunately, does not mean that I was not left with a lasting impression... More

My go to place for an awesome meal anytime. LOVE the salsa bar.....3 different salsas, chips, homemade hot sauces and sides. The plates are huge! They have something for evryone including the vegan plate.....rice,beans,posole,salad,tortes and lots of homemade goodness. It is counter service but that makes it all the more charming. Lucas, the owner, is very environmentally aware and uses... More

This food reminds me of the simple Mexican restaurants in Mexico. We ate here 3 times during the week we spent in Telluride. Each meal was delicious. It's nice to have an option of fresh vegetables and salad -- you don't always find that at a Mexican restaurant in the USA. Efficient service, including margaritas while you wait, and for... More

There are very few inexpensive restaurants in Telluride, and this one is the best. You order at the counter, but the food is amazing and fresh.

Stopped for a late lunch on our first day in town after getting a recommendation for this place from a local. They have a great chip n salsa bar (included with your meal). The pico is the bomb but it is hot so beware. We loved it. I also loved that they have fresh chopped cialntro on the bar to... More

A great little place on the main street in Telluride. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices and a cool vibe make this one of our favorite Telluride eating spots!
