Description: Originally a private retreat built on a historic mining claim, this new addition to Telluride’s award-winning restaurants is a quaint European hütte perched near the top of Gold Hill. With hand-hewn beams and furniture crafted from reclaimed wine barrels, Alpino Vino provides a high alpine ambience and is reminiscent of restaurants found throughout the Dolomites of Northern Italy. Inside, a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with a wood burning fireplace, stone floors and exposed wood beams, provides a perfect retreat from the slopes.Situated at 11,966’, Alpino Vino offers fantastic views of the Wilson Range. The expansive multi-tiered deck is a truly unique spot to enjoy a glass of wine with its European teak furniture, coveted daybed and comfortable sheepskin throws. An outdoor wine bar offers a spectacular setting for a midday escape. To visit Alpino Vino during the ski season, take Gold Hill Express (Lift 14) and turn left off the lift to ski down See Forever to our front door.Come enjoy the unique experience that is Alpino Vino!

A friend and I decided to stop by Alpino Vino after skiing the morning in Revelation Bowl. We figured that we probably shouldn't pass over the opportunity to dine at the highest restaurant in N. America. As it was a sunny 30 degree day we chose to sit outside, under their patio heaters, and enjoy the day while we dined.... More

Yes, it's expensive. If you ever are going to splurge do it here! I wouldn't do dinner because this is all about the VIEW, the great wine, the atmosphere and perfect sandwiches for hungry skiers. This staff does their absolute best to accommodate you - Justin, Luke and the two Dans, and I wish I could remember the rest, do... More

We stopped for lunch and the food (Paninis with tomato soup) was good but the service could be better: our waiter seemed to be short-minded and we had to remind him quite a few times to bring the glass of wine and water...

We expected our dinner for four at what we expected to be a dining highlight of our trip to Telluride. We made our reservations more than a month in advance. We walked in from the snow cat on a night with temperatures close to zero. There was a crackling, warm fire and a cozy little dining room with vaulted ceilings.... More

The evening starts out with a cat ride to the restaurant. Fourteen people load into a cat with Hal. After twenty minutes, you arrive at the Alpino Vino site and dinner begins. We started out with grilled artichoke and salami, followed by mushroom consume. The consume was watery mushroom broth--definitely unique - most at our table didn't like it. The... More

My wife and I dined here for Valentines day. The ride up was a great experience. The staff was well trained and looking to help. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was unmatched.

This is a must for anyone skiing in Telluride. We went on a cold snowy day so it was perfect to warm up, have a wonderful home-cooked meal and some wine. The organic tomato gorgonzola soup was so great, I wished I could ask the chef for the recipe. Definitely the highlight of the food. The sandwich options were wonderful... More

Alpino Vino is located just off the intermediate ski run named "See-Forever". During our third ski trip to Telluride, my wife and I decided to forego our usual Kashi bar lunch on the ski lift and splurge at this wonderful european style restaurant nestled at nearly 12,000 feet elevation along the most picturesque ridge in the ski resort. The food,... More

This is certainly not for a quick or cheap lunch. However, it's certainly worth a visit. For a start, as a wine lover/drinker, being able to have a nice glass of wine at the highest wine bar in the USA, just has to be done. We also ordered the Antipasto plate for 2. Annoyingly, this took an age to arrive... More
