We stopped here for lunch before on a long hike to Columbine Lake. Heck's outdoor patio is wonderful! It looks out over meadows of Grand Valley. I ordered the special of the day which was a pulled pork sandwich. It was very tasty and quite large. It came with fries and couple squares of "caramel corn bread". The cornbread was... More

The food was all very good (although the proportions were huge). They had good choices for our vegetarian granddaughter.

First of all the setting is beautiful with a view of the continental divide. Secondly the restaurant is also beautiful with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food: strange menu that seemed to lack a lodge feel. Hamburgers were large and tasted great but the appetizers during happy hour ranged from great (empanadas and deviled eggs) to mediocre (the "roasted"... More

My wife and I were just driving around and exploring the area when we happened upon Devils Thumb Ranch. We decided to try Heck's and we were absolutely delighted. We dine out extensively, but I have to say the lamb I had at Heck's was the tastiest meal I've ever had at a restaurant. (I thought about it for a... More

We've been going to Heck's for about a year now. We love the atmosphere and the stories from the wait staff about the Devil's Thumb and the surrounding ranch area. Last summer the happy hour was outstanding: Wonderful service, excellent food, and a good value over all. During ski season we only went two or three times. It was very... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the food and the service was exemplary. We weren't staying at Devil's Thumb Ranch, but didn't feel "excluded" from the guests. The hamburger is made from top notch beef and the chocolate croissant bread pudding was to die for!

Sorry that the night we ate at Hecks the food was poor to fair. Must have been the chefs night off. The risotto was so over cooked it tasted like mush. Service OK but arriving on a slow night since we did not have a reservation the hostesses made us wait as she put our information into the computer. With... More

Just returned to to Devil's Thumb for the first time since my band used to play there in the 90's for pitchers of beer. Things have certainly changed a bit. Upon arrival i was a little worried about apres ski wear and three young children in such an upscale establishment. Our local friends assured us everything was cool and they... More

We love the views and decor of Heck's, but we are tired of being treated like we don't belong. If you go for happy hour, they will tell you the dining tables are all reserved. If there is no place at the bar or the high tops, you can sit upstairs, but you have to order your food and take... More
