A good small-town cafe

It's a smallish cafe in Sterling. Good, home-style food at good prices. Friendly and efficient staff. Since the staff's T-shirts had chickens on the back, I figured it was their specialty and had a fried chicken dinner. Quite good. Not spicy like I thought the breading might be. We have eaten at the J&L many times over the years. We have always had a really good home cooked meal. Great friendly service, fair prices & good selection of food. Try their large homemade cinnamon rolls.

Parking is limited but obviously a favorite place by locals. Easy to find on third street. Very efficient waiters.

I have eaten here many times. My favorites are the burgers or chicken fried steak. All home cooked and absolutely wonderful. Staff is friendly and helpful.

One of our normal rituals is to go to the J & L Cafe after church on Sunday's, just like everyone else. They are always busy but they are fast and efficient. You don't have to wait long to be seated or served. The food is always hot and cooked just like you ordered. Wait staff is very attentive and... More

My husband had a fish sandwich which he said was very good. I had the Green Chili Philly & it was awesome! Very reasonable. Putting this on my good list.

The food has always been good, but the new remodel makes this city favorite even better. It was great to see that not only has the entrance been changed, but the restrooms are now bigger and at the front of the restaurant. Since this place is so popular, you often had to wait to be seated. Now the waiting area... More

Great food. Stop here often when traveling I-76 between Nebraska and Colorado to visit family. This time was no different. I had a Sirloin Steak Sandwich, spouse had the BBQ Beef Special of the day sandwich. Lots of French Fries/onion rings. Coffee is good, as was the Iced tea. Service was great and very attentive, even though they were very... More

LOVE the J&L Cafe. Reviews aside, drive by on a Sunday morning and that will tell you evvverything you need to know. Place is PACKED. Good old American food at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly, attentive, and efficient. Locals will crack you up (if you're into eavesdropping). This is a great American Cafe in a great little American town.... More
