Hokey but Fun - A Good Place For Buffalo or Elk Burgers

We split an elk burger that came with fries, which was was pretty good. The atmosphere is super casual; you can sit at the bar of seat yourself. Service was quick and friendly. Were given a tip to go here for lunch by a fellow passenger on the Durango/Silverton train. It is a little further away from the railhead and as such seemingly doesn't get too crowded - not so sure about that we ended up sitting at the bar to eat as there were no tables, and when we left there was... Not too many restaurants can seat a party of 10 walk-in. Handle Bars did it with ease. We all had different tastes and were served in a timely manner.

Quiet time in Silverton in mid October, but no slacking on the food here. Excellent prime rib and Rocky Mountain Mud Pie. Wood stove stoked up, and locals starting to come out and visit. Nice time to visit at a slower pace. Eat here for sure!

Stopped for dinner after 4 wheeling. Service was prompt and the chicken fried steak was tasty! I topped it off with peach cobbler. The decor is interesting with many different artifacts and articles on the walls and ceiling. A nice place to eat!

Whether you drive to Silverton or take the narrow-guage steam train from Durango, Handlebars is the place for lunch. Located behind the "Story Teller Indian Store," it can be accessed from the side street or from Story Tellers, a destination in its own right. Our family has eaten at Handlebars several times this Summer and had a great experience each... More

We had burgers and fries. The sweet potato fries were very good the burger just average. It was not busy but service was not great and staff were a bit automated. Would not hurry back

Went there the other night when not too many restaurants were open. Didn't look like much from the outside, but boy is it the best kept secret in Silverton. The decor is soo cute and rustic. Food was excellent. Tasted more like they make their food their rather than just open cans and jars. Portions are huge. Staff was friendly,... More

We checked out the reviews before eating here but things were off the mark on our visit. The food was OK. The service was a little slower than we are accustomed to. We had seen a sandwich board outside of the restaurant showing the days specials and when we went in, the waitress said she had no idea what we... More

Silverton does not have a great selection of restaurants and I do appreciate that this is a "wild west" type of ambiance, but wished my wine did not come in a mason jar glued to a candlestick. But hey, when in Rome….right? The food was fine. Service was fine. Great place for the kids though, since it's full of old... More
