I'm so accustomed to getting a breakfast sandwich that was made an hour before and wrapped in plastic. This one was on a fresh biscuit with good cheddar cheese, red peppers, beans, and eggs. It was quite tasty. Coffee was great, too. I didn't get to go back, but I understand this is a great place for an afternoon beer,... More

We took the narrow gauge train from Durango and the Avalance is a short walk from the drop off station. This cute, friendly, quirky internet cafe/brewery was the best part of the town (which was disappointing). We didn't order any food, but the items other guests were eating looked very good. They were out of the IPA, but the beer... More

We stopped here for lunch on our trip to Silverton. The food was delicious and the service was fast. The view from the patio is amazing.

I have eaten here a few times now while I'm in Silverton since there are so few other vegetarian options. The staff just doesn't seem very friendly and basically act like they could care less if you come back or not. They very seldom wipe down the tables and expect you to help yourself to all silverware and water refills.... More

Friendly staff, quick service even though they were busy. Pizza was fantastic and coffee was surprisingly good for a small town. Don't miss this place, it isn't on the main street, but on Blair Street.

Excellent food, hand-made dough, dressings, beer-- and wonderfully reasonable prices too. Jim & I dined at the Avalanche Cafe 3 times during our short visit to Silverton. The man behind the counter "Dooley" was a friendly & helpful man. He gave me samples of 3 beers so I could choose my favorite. Food: I had an excellent Thai salad and... More

Avalanche is a kind of fussy, earthy-crunchy place in the old red light district of Silverton, Upon arriving in town and learning that the Silverton Brewing Company had closed, we ended up here. First impression was that we had accidentally landed in a coffee shop while looking for a brewery, but we were soon pleasantly surprised. The story is that... More

After eating an overpriced, mediocre lunch on the main street of Silverton, we wandered into Avalanche for a beer. It's located near the train and was a great surprise. Their self-brewed beers are tasty and reasonably priced ($4.25 versus $5.50 on the main street). There a gluten free options on the menu and everything is freshly made on site. Breakfast... More

Best Beer in the San Juan's! Cozy, quiet, and fabulous pizza. Different flavor combinations that are out of this world!

Good coffee in the morning, good beer in the evening. Currently, the only place in town to get pizza ... and it is also good.
