We took the train up and decided on Grumpy's because we had heard good things from others on the train. I had the Kacey's Favorite turkey and melted cheese sandwich. My husband had the steak sandwich (which was a little bit of steak and a lot of fried!). Both were entirely forgettable.

This is a difficult review to write because we went here twice, once by car after the last train had left, and again when traveling to Silverton on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railway, and the experiences were quite different. We first visited after travelling to Silverton by car, the last train had left, and we just wanted a... More

We experienced Gumpy's on two occasions the same week. The first time just for a snack and a beer when we were passing through by car. They had a nice selection of beers and the appetizer menu looked great. We selected the onion rings. Out came a plate of light and crispy onion rings, golden brown and delicious. However, a... More

This restaurant is an old honkey tonk-like place with a big bar and old time piano and player. The atmosphere is very old West. The son of the owner waited on us and he was a hoot. We ordered Reuben sandwiches, onion rings, sweet potato fries and good wine with it! It would be a great place to just hang... More

After taking the train from Durango to Silverton, my family and I wanted to eat lunch. We chose Grumpy's and was glad we did. The food was excellent and the service was extremely fast. I imagine they get a lot of business from the tourists. I was very impressed though.

It's located on the first floor of the Imperial Hotel. They serve a breakfast buffet. The food was delicious. The service friendly. The decor added to the experience. Lots of stained glass window inserts. They have plenty of seating, even a back room that would be good for a private group. It too is a short walking distance from where... More

We asked someone in town were to eat and were directed to Grumpy's. Now I know why it is named that. From the start the waitress was not friendly. The burger was good, but the sides were frozen out of a bag. Upon receiving the check she told us we needed to pay and leave because others were waiting. 18%... More

This restaurant is at the Grand Imperial Hotel which is over a century old. It's a Victorian building with its usual bells and whistles. The Piano player who was belting out classics and rhymes was easily the best thing about the restaurant. There was no host to greet us, and we ended up asking a waitress for seating place after... We ran in here for a bite to eat after taking the trip up from Durango on the train. Lunch was reasonably priced, service was good and listening to the piano player was quite a treat.

As we were riding the train to Silverton, we questioned people about a place to eat and they directed us to Grumpy's , which is in the Grand Imperial Hotel. When you get off the train, just walk straight two blocks and you will find it. We noticed it was quaintly decorated in the Victorian period, the large bar was... More
