There were only two people working the front when I came in and they were doing an excellent job helping everyone and ALSO while being so warm and friendly! AWESOME staple of a place to go in Salida - the coffee was awesome - picked up a couple mochas here, a turnover, and a cookie! It was GREAT - and... More

We had to stop in Salida to wait for the bicyle race to go thru before we could proceed on the highway. It was lunch time so we stopped in to Cafe Dawn. We ordered the ham sandwich, which was the only one left. Got some chips and a drink. My husband and I split the sandwich but when we... More

early morning, desperate for coffee we came upon this place. Glad that we did, the coffee was excellent, the fritatta hit the spot. the wifi was a great help as we were changing out plans. Road between Salida and Gunnison was going to be closed for a bike race, and it rerouted us. Stopping for coffee in a friendly place... More

Was referred here by a local shop and was so excited to be able to get a coffee drink while my son was skateboarding. My excitement turned to disappointment when the lady told me they did not make blended drinks because they don't have a blender! Not sure how you can be "the best" local coffee shop and not serve... This is a retro style building in downtown with indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee is divine and the servers are excellent. They have a small menu of breakfast and lunch items. They also serve local wines and beers.

This place has the best coffee downtown and is always filled with friendly folks who make you feel like a native. The menu includes some breakfast variety pastries but I stick to the coffee.

As an early riser, I appreciate the 6 am opening. Fresh pastries and a good, rich espresso are appreciated. A block off the main street, it has the comfortable, friendly atmosphere that a coffee shop that draws a lot of locals tends to have.

I think this building is the perfect place for a coffee shop. It is retro, it's garage doors open to the outside, and the patio is fun to sit in and full of locals. On top of that, the coffee is delicious. My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful morning sitting in the sun and drinking coffee there on our... More

Opens early, and a big gathering place for coffee and tea. Good sandwiches, salads, and paninis. Inexpensive, too!

I've spent many a pleasant hour sipping tea and surfing the web in the Cafe Dawn. The atmosphere is relaxed and the owner, Phil, runs a well-organized operation. The locally made pastries are delicious and the breakfast burritos will keep you going all day long.
