THE ONLY place to stop betwen Durango, CO and the "front range" of CO.

My wife and I often travel through Saguache when going from our home near Durango to visit our grandkids (and their parents) in Louisville, CO. We used to pack a picnic lunch and stop at the park in Saguache. Now that we have found the 4th street diner the picnic lunches are a thing of the pass... read more

My sister and I were driving to Santa Fe on a lazy Sunday when we decided to stop in Saguache. We stumbled upon this wonderful little diner and had an amazing 'taste of home' meal. Everything is fresh and made daily including the wonderful desserts. The entire experience was like stepping back in time to the 1950's. My sister and... More

On the drive back to Denver from Durango we were looking for a place to stop for dinner. It was the first Saturday evening of the New Year and we knew our choices were few. Google located this diner from a simple search and we placed the call. Esther answered but said that they had closed at 3:00 and that... More

We had stayed overnight in del Norte, but there was nothing open for breakfast before 7 or 8:00, and we were out on the road before that. (We don't consider gas stations to be restaurants.) We saw a sign at Saguache and thought we would check it out. Their menu emphasized fresh, local, homemade meals and we knew we had... More

If you are anywhere in the area, visit 4th Street Diner. The Potato Soup is really good and has additional vegetables in it - wish I had another bowl tonight! However, save room for the Peach pie and some of those huge yummy cookies too. The pastry is so good, it will remind you of Grandma's kitchen....that good! Lots of... More

Stopped in for breakfast at the Diner. Good atmosphere, nice paintings on the wall. Ordered a green chili omelet and toast. One bite and I knew it was the best green chili ever, and I am fussy about such things! I ended up asking (begging?) to buy a quart of the green chili to take home, which I did. Will... More

We've eaten here several times before when we were traveling in the area and always had a great lunch. So when we had a terrible experience recently, we hope it was just a bad day, but we won't be returning. Our server took our drink order and had to return to the table 3 times because she apparently couldn't remember... More

My husband and I were driving home from Salida with our travel trailer and needed to stop and eat someplace for breakfast. We saw a sign for food in Saguache and turned into town and we are so glad we did! There was ample street parking for the truck and trailer and no wait to eat breakfast at this great... More

There is nothing pretentious about the 4th Street Diner and that's just great. It's an old adobe building and oozes character. It was full, which is always a good sign. We stopped for a quick lunch and had BLTs with drinks. The bread seemed to be freshly made as was the sandwich, and it was delicious. Our only sadness was... More
