We Puebloans all have our favorite "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurants, but they may be a bit too rough around the edges for visitors - so after I'd received a gift certificate to try out Papa Jose's on Union Avenue, I was very impressed! It's in the Historic Union Avenue District - which has lots of boutiques and near... More

Friendly. Low key. Great food. Family atmosphere. Right on historic Union Avenue. A gift from the couple at our table

House margarita was flavorless, nachos were terrible, and the service was sorely lacking. Skip this restaurant, Pueblo is full of great Mexican food places, but this isn't one of them.

Though Pueblo is supposed to be known for Mexican food, which stands to reason since our population is 50% Hispanic, I've been really disappointed in many of the Mexican restaurants here. Papa Jose's isn't the best I've ever had, but I think it's one of the better places in Pueblo. Good friendly service, and a great location on Historic Union... More

My brother-in-law who lives in Pueblo, raved about this place and insisted we have dinner there when we visited him in Pueblo a couple of weeks ago. While my husband didn't mind it too much, I thought the food was awful. The chili verde tasted like flour soup, and the tortilla chips were hard as rocks and the tostadas were... More

food very consistent, not hot for Mexican food. Good beer and wine prices, friendly service, great location in the Pueblo Historic District

Place is small, but the food is wonderful. Good variety and great tasting food. After dinner you have to have the sopapillas. They serve them with warm honey and cinnamon sugar. They are so light and airy and so good. Great end to a wonderful meal.

Nice place, close to work. Not the best Mexican food but ok for Pueblo. Service was a little slow. If you just have an hour for lunch I would see if you can call ahead so it's ready.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel. It was very popular on the Friday night we were there. All the tables were taken. The prices were reasonable, as were the portions. The only drawback was the food itself. It was pretty average, which was not what I would have expected from such a popular place. My huevos rancheros... More

Very reasonably-priced average Mexican food. My son liked his burrito, but my combination plate--though large--wasn't interesting. The relleno was boring; the enchilada was also nothing special, and the machaca wasn't flavorful; the taco was just OK; and the green chili, which they speak fondly of, had no distinctive flavor. Nothing awful, but nothing worth a second visit. I thought the... More
