A genuine discovery. In this tiny town in a gorgeous Colorado valley is this surprising large bakery - cafe that defies categorization. The food is great but is second to the vibe, ambience, charm, mojo, whatever you want to call it. Not exactly hippie, not tree-hugger, nearly backpacker, touch of biker, it is - well -- unpretentiously cool. You got... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a resident of the Durango area who said there wasn't a better breakfast place around. That endorsement meant that we had to try it on our way to Mesa Verde National Park.. We were not disappointed. We both ordered "the stack" which ranks as the best meal we had on our long 17... More

For all you travelers out there .... pretend you're a "local" and go by Absolute Bakery in Mancos, Colorado. You won't be sorry. The menu has a number of unique, healthy oriented choices and the place has a central coffee bar with 4-5 choices of java from strong to mild plus decaf. Excellent home cooked food. This place is a gem. Staff extremely welcoming and helpful. Everything we saw and tasted was fresh and well presented. Note 1: ask advice on portion size before you order - they are very generous. You may need a small helping! Note 2: Buy some fresh bread on the way out.

We turned off the freeway into Mancos to see whether there was anywhere we could get lunch on our way to Mesa Verde National Park. The Absolute Bakery & Cafe drew us in, and we were so glad we ate there. They were very busy while we were there, so we did have to wait awhile to get our food,... More

My husband and I drove a little out of our way to eat here after reading a tip on a forum about the area. Their menu boasts that they are part of the slow-food movement and proud of it. They were definitely slow, but not worth the wait. Twenty minutes after ordering, my husband's cheeseburger arrived without cheese. It was... More

We went here the first day around 9 am and they were really busy. I asked what the wait was and they said I was first so we waited 20 minutes for a table. (while we were waiting another couple just walked up and took an open table so I suggest just seating yourself and telling the wait staff you... More

We had breakfast at the Absolute Bakery twice when we were staying in Mancos. It is a great place with plenty of seating, AMAZING baked goods, and all the usual breakfast stuff you could want - pancakes/egges/huevos rancheros/etc. The coffee is great - and never stops flowing. Atmosphere is welcoming and rustic. Service was fantastic. It is such a pleasure... More

Stopped in for lunch and had a wonderful surprise. The menu is creative and the food was well done. The atmosphere is funky and fun. Not many choices in Mancos, but this is worth the stop.
